I found out that after spray painting my boat almost wouldn't turn any more.
Sharpening the inner sponson edges made a hell of a difference then.

Lex,

You might be right, but the the speed of the sound wave doesn't scale up with a bigger motor, so the right way to vary the volume is by the diameter(s).:D

Daz,

The main reason the fullscale F1 is "evolving" to inboard is the upcoming ban on two stroke engines, so if you want to do things right you better change to fourstroke as well ? :D

Once mine is near topend the dynamical CG seems to be OK.
Only problem is getting there, especially with a too fast accelerating propeller.
My experience (with an outboard) is that a 6717/3 seems...

Main reason I did it was to have a more scale look.
Another advantage was that an offset transom brings the prop further back and thus makes the prop lift momentum bigger.

The guy's over here with a VP outboard (torpedo diameter 15 mm) presently run them @ 15 mm (propshaft center- sponson lowest point) and some inboards even @ 25 mm.
