RE: Equivelent Petrol to Glow

You must always go up with displacement to maintain the same power if you use gas instead of glow. Problem with 1.20 sized planes is that they are just too small for gasser leading to excessive...

RE: Charging the MC-24 3000 battery???

This is what I did. There are two pins on the small board charging connector is soldered to, use a standard jumper (like the ones used in PC's) to connect those two pins. Now the polarity reversal...

st3000 gas equivelent

Large ST with its more than 1200 grams is not much lighter than say a ZDZ-40. When you factor in increased power and reduced fuel consumption gas may actually turn lighter at the end of the story. It...

Hitec 5925 Hi Speed Digital Dead? :(

Do a search here, Mike has said several times not to use digitals for brakes in RC cars because they burn up pretty quickly. He also mentioned that they are designing a new digital servo for brake...

Saito 72 Top RPMs

Why should YS be excluded? Why shouldn't I run it at peak minus 300 rpm? I'm well within manufacturer suggested practical RPM range, even taking unloading in the air.
I'm not running it very far...

Saito 72 Top RPMs

My OS-70FS turns that same prop at 10800 peaked and I richen it to 10500 and go fly. I use 15% cool power. I don't understand this less than 10000 rpm story.

ZDZ 40 mounting method

That header was no.1 reason it took me over a year to complete this model. I got front in front out can from KS and only after that I got info from Dick Hanson that the header must be 12" long. This...

Here is a picture of my zdz installation in a 80" cap with fiberglass fuse. It is a bit blurred, sorry. I'll make some more if you want.

ZDZ 40 , what props are you using?

I use front in front out KS can and I made 12" header per your advice. It was a difficult task to make that header and 12" was all I could do to keep it under cowl. At the end I had to cut the cowl...

ZDZ 40 , what props are you using?

My zdz40 which is installed in an 80" 13 lbs cap that I'm holding in my avatar turns MenzS 20x10 just a bit under 7000. I also tried MenzS 22x8 and got 6200-6300 the first time I run the engine. Now...

ZDZ 40 , what props are you using?

Do yourself a favor and buy prop drill jig, it makes drilling props very easy and the bolts line up perfectly. Also make sure you tighten them pretty good and periodically check and retighten them as...

Range problems with digital servos

One other thing I remembered. There were some old Hitec dual conversion receivers that used crystals that were cut to operate on a frequency that was received frequency + 1st. IF, unlike normal RX...

Range problems with digital servos

If they use different IF's they shouldn't be off by more than 5kHz and if the servo is making RF noise you can bet it is wideband and would interfere with both IF's. I think that some receivers have...

Range problems with digital servos

I had similar problem on my eraser using HS-81 and futaba 138 rx. Funny thing was that it worked much better with the cheapo futaba 118 rx which is single conversion. I fixed the problem by using...

Hitec digital servos for 80" cap

I agree with 3D Joy, one 5925 on each surface and 5945 on rudder. Thats exactly what I have on my 80" cap and it is absolutely fantastic :D Run them on 6V and you won't believe how fast those 5925's...

Programer-Don't want Mike's answer

The only real danger is when you unplug charging cable which has...

Mike : 5925 jitters

Have you tried swapping the receiver with a different one? I don't think the problem is 6V pack, I also have 6V packs and the servos are rock solid on freshly charged battery giving more than 7V.

Mike : 5925 jitters

When you say that they jitter can you see the surface actually move or you just hear jittery sound coming from the servos?

If it's just the sound you are hearing then it is perfectly normal with...

Digital servo only has so much discrete positions and it is a design feature, so if you limit its travel with the programmer you will lose resolution. However since servo ha roughly 8 times better...

Should PCM receivers really cost more?

IPD receiver is in fact equal to other brands PCM receivers. It consists of RF deck followed by a microprocessor rather than simple PPM decoder (4017 + diode and capacitor).

I bet if one was crazy...

Should PCM receivers really cost more?

Analog PPM is a thing of the past, it started dying when first computer radios came to market.

There is stepping that originates from A/D conversion in the transmitter and there is stepping that...
