Typically folks cut out a hole in the firewall big enough to recess the carb into the firewall. This should buy you an extra to inch of clearance. The AeroWorks folks have an install guide for...

I put a DLE 20 in an Aeroworks Extra 300 .60-.90 and found a XOAR 16x8 prop to be just too fast. The 17x6 allowed it to slow down and was much more manageable. Instead of running a separate...

Mike,

Thanks for the info! Was the ignition "plug-and-play" with the DLE20 or did you have to adjust the timing (move the hall sensor)?

Barry,

I own two Tech-Aero IBECs and they are awesome. On one of my bigger setups I run 2 batteries through a Wolverine switch through multiple power leads to my RX. That way you have redundant...

RE: Valley View RC Brand Engines

My VVRC came with the prop nut. If you don't like it for some reason you can order one from Tru-Turn. They may not have them on their website but can get you one if you call.

I had my VVRC20...

RE: Valley View RC Brand Engines

Thanks for the replies, I will go with the wider xyz prop washer and prop nut. Still wish someone sold a locking nut solution but I guess if my lawn mower blade can be held on with one bolt my prop...

RE: Valley View RC Brand Engines

Captin,

I considered that but I really don’t like using thread locker prop nuts. I’ve found that it can be a giant pain to get the nut off later. I’d really like to go with a “two nut...

RE: Valley View RC Brand Engines

Quick question for you VVRC 20 users. I installed the VVRC 20 on a plane that has a spinner. By the time I install the spinner back plate, prop, prop washer and prop nut there is little thread left...

RE: Aeroworks Extra 300 60-90

Abeard,

I had a 12oz gas tank on my DLE20 and never used more than half of it in 8-10 minute flights so I’m moving to an 8 ounce Fortitude tank. Typically I only fly for 8-9 minutes and land...

RE: Valley View RC Brand Engines

All,

Thanks for the feedback, I ordered a VVRC 20cc yesterday and will be swapping out my DLE20 when it arrives. I am really hoping that the new ignition and carb will make it a smoother...

RE: Valley View RC Brand Engines

Good morning and Happy Easter! Can anyone tell me if the VVRC 20 is a "bolt in replacement" for the DLE 20? My DLE 20's midrange is pretty horrible and I was hoping to get something that was a bit...

RE: Aeroworks Extra 300 60-90

Granpooba, wow, sorry for you loss that really stinks and hope this is an isolated incident.

I’ve flown mine for the past few years with a Saito 82 and a DLE 20 without any issues with the...

RE: Aeroworks Extra 300 60-90

I own this plane and fly 3D but, IMHO, this bird is just too heavy with some weird stall tendencies for me to comfortably fly 3D. If you want to do 3D skip this plane and buy an Aero Works 260QB-L...

RE: Airtronics sd-10g-super OR Futaba 8fg

Coachh,

Both radios you are considering are great radios. I own a SD-10G but was seriously considering Futaba 8fg when I purchased the 10G. I went with the SD-10G simply because I had been...

RE: SD-10G Super

Good afternoon, can anyone tell me when the SD-10G Super will be released? Will it be out in 2012? I'm really not crazy about the all silver SD-10Gs and want to upgrade my RDS8000(s) sometime...

RE: Something new from Hanger 9

This plane has me interested but I’m concerned about the weight. At an advertised 6.6-7.5 lbs this Katana is going to weigh as much (or even a bit more) as my Aero-Works Extra 300 60-90 which was...

RE: RDS 8000 or SD10-G or Aurora 9

I own two RDS8000’s and 7 RXes and have flown them since 2008. They were excellent deals at the time and have been totally solid glitch free radios. That being said, I personally wouldn’t...

RE: RCEXL Opto Kill Switch Ignition vs. receiver Voltage Question

All,
Thanks for the help. I’ve tried just about everything I can think of to get the RCEXL switch to work with my 92824 RX including: changing batteries (4.8v and 6v), taking the mechanical...

RE: RCEXL Opto Kill Switch Ignition vs. receiver Voltage Question

You can tell if the optical kill is cutting off the ignition if the light blinks but, IMHO, the best way to see this behavior is to install an rcexl tach, the tach (which plugs into the ignition)...

RE: RCEXL Opto Kill Switch Ignition vs. receiver Voltage Question

All,

Thanks for the help. I believe it is a receiver compatibility problem with the RCEXL kill switch. I tried the same configuration with a Spektrum receiver and a different Airtronics...

RCEXL Opto Kill and Airtronics 92824 receiver issue

I’ve run into a vexing issue with a glow / gas conversion where I could use a little help. I’m converting to a DLE-20 with an RCEXL ignition, RCEXL tach, and an RCEXL Opto Kill Switch (version...

RE: RCEXL Opto Kill Switch Ignition vs. receiver Voltage Question

Sorry for the mistake on the original post. I am running a 5 cell 6v on the receiver and a 4 cell 4.8v on the ignition. I took the rcxel opto kill out of the loop and ran the battery/switch...

RCEXL Opto Kill Switch Ignition vs. receiver Voltage Question

So, I just finished a DLE20 upgrade for my Aeroworks Extra 300. I was running a 5 cell 6v 2000mah NIMH battery pack on the receiver and when I added the DLE20 I added a 4 cell 4.8v 2000mah NIMH for...

RE: Extra 60-90 flight question!...take 2...:)

I have the exact same issue with my extra 300. I balanced it laterally but that didn't do much of anything to help the snapping. My only guess is that the elevator may flex under the load but it...

RE: Aeroworks Extra 300 60-90

Thanks for the feedback. I’m pretty sure my plane doesn’t way 12 pounds! I’m positive the tach readings are good and suspect it is a combination of the grass, the wheel pants and I am...
