The Saito 750 is indeed a one-off engine. It was built by Kelvin, owner/operator of Keleo Creations.

He wanted to build a large radial, so he enlisted the help of a machinist...

The ball bearings is an interesting answer on the oil ratio. I had another idea, but am by no means a mechanical expert.

Would another contributing factor involve how the intake tubes draw...

Seidel has a double row radial. It's the ST-14 500, but 500cc's is as big as their price tag of 6,500 Euro.
