RE: 1/5 spitfire bubble canopy

Hi Nils,
Thanks for posting the photos! Obviously, a huge improvement. Overall, I think a very cool Spit for what it is and a great deal for the cost.
If you don't mind, could you post the...

RE: 1/5 spitfire bubble canopy

Hey Chad,

The problem is the wingspan of these GS Spits do not accurately reflect the scale. Because of the wingspan, I mistakenly thought along the same lines....must close to 1/5 Spits as both...

RE: 1/5 spitfire bubble canopy

I am having the same problems finding a canopy for mine, the GS. I cut the turtle deck down for a more scale outline and ordered a canopy from Century. WAY TOO BIG!!! Obviously, we are not dealing...

RE: LETS SEE THOSE JEMCO WARBIRDS...

Here's an old Jemco AT-6 project. Converted it to a SNJ-2, with retracts and aluminum covering. Still have some details to finish, but I haven't touched it in years. I also have the P-47, Bf-109,...

RE: Sterling Piper Tri-pacer 44"

I bought a 44" Sterling Tri-Pacer at a garage sale, without plans! I would love to build this little guy if someone would be kind enough to email a photo of their plans, or sell me a set.
Thanks,
...

RE: Cedar Hobbies F7F Tigercat ARF

I admire your enthusiasm! Just curious if you plan on fitting the larger cowls? If you plan on using the small ones supplied, in my opinion, it will never look right even if you shorten the wing...

RE: Cedar Hobbies F7F Tigercat ARF

Rouge Eagle, I understand your point on not wanting to under-power! I'll post a photo of my nacelles for you. I just added balsa strips and sanded until I got the shape I liked. Then they're ready...

RE: Cedar Hobbies F7F Tigercat ARF

I've been looking on eBay for reasonably priced electric motors, the retail price through the on-line hobby outlets are outrageous! I'm thinking maybe you can get enough power out of the 60 size...

RE: Cedar Hobbies F7F Tigercat ARF

Glad to hear about your F7F project! I am impressed by your choice for power. I hope you can post some photos and let us see how you are modifying yours.

I have worked sporadically on mine. I...

RE: Lightweight Finishes over Balsa

Thanks to everyone for the input!!!

In order to use polyurethane, it's recommended that the balsa be coated with a non water based balsa sealer to keep moisture out when applying the cloth with...

Lightweight Finishes over Balsa

Just an idea I would like to get some opinions on....

I have a 1/6 scale Warbird with your basic wood frame and balsa skin airframe that is all built up and ready to glass. As I was mulling over...

RE: How do I delete my reply post in a forum thread????

I do not see an edit option. Isn't there supposed to be an icon to let you do that? This is a thread that is months old...Is that edit option something that disappears arbitrarily?

RE: Cedar Hobbies F7F Tigercat ARF

Hi Jim,
I did look at the website.... and like I said they are SOLD OUT! If you try to buy one for $600 and click on the add to cart it shows you owe $0. When (and if) they get some more in, we'll...

RE: Cedar Hobbies F7F Tigercat ARF

I'd agree you'd be a fool to pay $600! But they sell for around $300....

Also, you tickled me with your armature engineering remark! I own both the big 90" span Nitroplanes P-38 and Cedar...

RE: Cedar Hobbies F7F Tigercat ARF

Mine didn't come with a manual either, but I'm not sure there's anything in it you really need. The work required is pretty obvious and straight forward. I guess the balance point is the only thing...

RE: Cedar Hobbies F7F Tigercat ARF

Great Job on your Tigercat! I can imagine it has plenty of power with the 120's, and I'm sure it sounds great too.

Did you add anything else, like extra batteries, etc.? Twinman said his came...

RE: Cedar Hobbies F7F Tigercat ARF

Next, the stab.

I have to raise the horizontal stab up by 3/4" to keep the same ratio as the main wing. I cut the fuse straight up from where the stab slides in and then built up a balsa base...

RE: Cedar Hobbies F7F Tigercat ARF

OK, first I've got to tell you 3/4" seems to be the magic number for modifications...build up the nacelles 3/4" behind the cowl, raise the main spars up 3/4", raise the horizontal stab up...

RE: A new P-38 ARF

Tomas,
If I had the money (or if you would ever take me up on any one of the trades I've offered you:D), I would LOVE to have one of your VQ or Kondor models! You are a truly a King among dealers...

RE: A new P-38 ARF

The only other way that comes to mind would be to use ply extensions, similar to dihedral braces, which would be glued to the main spar of the inner wing and build a ply channel in the outer wing for...

RE: A new P-38 ARF

If you look back through this thread.... Nitro Models sent me a missing elevator and they sent Maui Bob replacement plastic parts... I can't really say anything bad about them. This is a 90" span...

RE: Cedar Hobbies F7F Tigercat ARF

From a Tigercat to a B-25? Well, to each his own. Of course, Ziroli also makes an excellent B-25, which you can build for less than the cost of the T/F ARF (or Hangar 9, or KMP)... but seeing as how...

RE: Cedar Hobbies F7F Tigercat ARF

I strongly suggest you take the time to go back to page 1 and read back through this thread if you're serious about buying one.

I think it's a deal for the $300 I paid for it. Is it a $900...
