RE: Main Difference In Flying Giant Scale

Takeoff is easy if speed is high enough with a nice rollout. Keep the aircraft higher until you are used to the scale difference. They are easier to see and keep in view for my older eyes. I start...

RE: Interesting problem ...input invited

If you have a metal detector, why not run it over the area where you have been having the "hits". Maybe some some strong metal in the area that is a contributor. Repeat action with a RF...

RE: First gasser. Have cooling questions.

As a basic, a gas engine (and I suppose glow engine, too) the exit area around the cowl from the exhaust should be 3x or 4x the air intake area for the engine.

RE: DLE 55 weirdness...

Just for "grins", remove the inline filters and replace the fuel tank clunk so that there is no impediment in the fuel flow. See if that helps.

RE: Ultracote, monokote or other?

Have you ever worked with Solartex or Worldtex? A little bit more expensive, but GREAT to work with IMHO.

RE: Engine question please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If more scale-like flying preferred then the Zenoah. Either will do a great job. A Saito FA-125 would also be interesting.

RE:

A Great Planes Big Stick 120 with a DLE30 is fun or if you can find one a Carl Goldberg Wilson Stick with a 26-30 cc gasser is a great time, too.

RE: Two battery packs or not?

On gassers never run your ignition and receiver off of one battery. Always use separate batteries. I always use some sort of a kill switch as well.

If you we're running an inboard glow igniter...

RE: DLE 20CC and the likes

I agree with the beam mounting. Secure and many of the old style engine mounts work great.

RE: FASST, FHSS Ranges

I have always used Futaba 9C series and now for the past 3 years switched to a Futaba 10-CAG FASST. IMHO the FASST system is as close to ideal as I can get.

I personally do not know much about...

RE: Great Planes Super Stearman

I fly my Great Planes Super Stearman with a Saito FA-125. It flies beautifully! Great plane. I use a Futaba R617FS rx and a Futaba 10-CAG tx. A Saito FA-100 was on previously, but that was a bit...

RE: Glitch

Check/replace Y harnesses.

You didn't say what type engine ... electric, glow/nitro, gas. Gas is pretty noisy and lots of vibrations.
Do not use metal to metal contacts when connecting...

RE: 2 flyers, 1 AMA membership?

I am not an attorney, but this sounds a bit complicated because yes, your AMA membership is also insurance, but in reality the insurance is secondary to your home insurance. If you are flying and...

RE: Constant chord wing query

Constant chord wings have better stall and post-stall characteristics but poorer roll rates and have poor snap characteristics. Think of military warbirds in combat. They all have tapered wings. I...
