RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

Starting to work on the top shape of the nacelle above the wing. Turns out the shucks from my extra 300 wing core (which I thankfully hadn't thrown out yet) fit the B-25 airfoil pretty closely. So...

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

Had to spend a few days doing some much needed yard work, but I found some time to get back to the B-25. Glued and shaped the wing center section leading edges and now im starting to finish the top...

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

Making a little more progress. I finally Finished off the flaps on the center section. After giving everything a good once over to make sure I didn't miss anything, I sheeted the top of the wing...

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

Steve,
Thanks for loading those pictures. Your B-25 is gorgeous. Based on the rather old looking copy of RCM in the first picture, I'm guessing those shots were taken quite some time ago?

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

Great discussion! That cockpit isnt bad, But there is no way I am spending 200 bucks on it! Although i want to make it as nice as i can, This plane will not be judged. I made a cockpit for a Byron...

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

Thanks for the compliment- I've made quite a few mistakes so its nice to get some positive feedback. As long as she flies ill be happy!
The balsa stripper actually works quite well and is fast. The...

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

And the end is capped with 3/32nd balsa. Fixed w-7 and bridged the gap between it and the nacelle with a piece of sheeting.

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

Moving outwards- the outer flap sections (of the center section) cut out. And note I need to replace the trailing edge of w-7 while I'm at it.

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

Working on framing out the flap servo on the opposite side. While I was waiting for glue to dry, I hooked up the flap I setup yesterday to see how it works- so far so good. First time setting up an...

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

I'm going to be realistic and say next summer. Once it's gets warm I won't have as much time to build!
As far as the brass- just stick a #11 exacto blade in the end and spin the tube. It shaves the...

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

First flap hinged. For the robart hinge points I like to use a piece of 3/16" brass tube sharpened- it makes a nice smooth hole whereas a drill bit likes to rip the balsa apart. I also made a little...

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

Flap servo access hatch and hinge blocks in. Mangled the sheeting a bit around the opening- need to fix that and be more carefull on the other side.

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

I'm gonna try and take quite a few pictures of building the flap areas since it seems a bit complicated- at least to me. Maybe someone will find this helpfull.
Starting to sheet the wing/flap joint.

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build

You aren't kidding! I'm really dreading cutting out the gear doors.
Speaking of cutting- I'm back on the wing center section- cutting the flaps out.

RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build
