RE: Great Planes Giant Scale Super Chipmunk 1.20 ARF

I've got a Moki 2.1 that could go in it......but will it fit under under the cowl ?

Will be interesting to hear AUW's and how it balances out with heavier engines.

RE: Webra 50 or MVVS 49 ?

I just wanted to say I ordered the MVVS along with the #3248 as I've read that it really helps the 49's performance. I'd still like to hear from Jeff or anyone else who may have some input on this....

RE: Goldberg Extreme 540

Thanks Sean,

Ok I have 2- 225mg's, 2- 5475's and a HS-81. I had originally thought I'd put the 5475's in the tail for their truer centering ability but they do weigh, together, about 0.6 oz...

RE: Webra 50 or MVVS 49 ?

Jeff,

I guess Im talking about the muffler(silencer) that it ships with. Apparently its one of the others that gives a substantial jump in performance. I guess its all relative as I could put...

RE: Webra 50 or MVVS 49 ?

CCRC1,

OK if you compare both engines performance using their stock mufflers, regardless of weight savings , which one wins ?

RE: Goldberg Extreme 540

rideon67,

I'm in basically the same situation as you. I'm looking at an engine for this plane and was thinking of using the Webra 50 to help keep the weight down. How did putting the Rx pack...

Webra 50 or MVVS 49 ?

I'd like to hear some opinions on which engine you all think is the best. The MVVS looks to be a great engine but I see that it doesnt get anywhere near its potential without buying, at the least,...

RE: New CG Ex-Treme 540

What servos are you using ?

Is that a 5 or 6 cell AA 1000mah pack

Are you using the stock TT muffler ? Stock landing gear ?

Thanks

RE: Webra 50

Wow. Those must be heavier than the stock gear. I'm sure theyre much tougher though.
What about CF. Who makes them for profiles and how much do they weigh ?

RE: Webra 50

Ok my set-up. Webra 50, 2-225mgs, 2-5475's, 1-81, Superslim Rx, 5cell 720mah nimh pack seems to me to offer a weight savings to near 10oz versus a standard set-up using something like a Saito 72 or...

RE: Webra 50

Well I figure by not using standard servos, standard RX pack, standard gear and not using a 17oz engine I may save near 8oz. That much weight savings WILL make a difference. In my view saving as...

RE: Webra 50

Well while a four stroke has a good powerband and all I'm trying to save weight on this ARF. I'm thinking the only way to get this thing under 5 lbs is to go with the Webra. It's nearly 3 &1/2 oz...

RE: Webra 50

How far out on the rails do you have the magnum mounted ? All the way ?
Hmmm, I cant imagine the tail being any lighter on the 540.

Thanks

RE: Webra 50

Yeah O.S. uses Nickel plating in all their 2 stroke engines as well , right? What other manufacturers use ABN ?

The weight savings does seem significant. I was thinking of trying a M-can...

RE: New Goldberg Edge 540 Profile

Well I havent gotten an engine yet but Im still aiming at the Webra speed 50. Seems it's about 4.25oz less than the Saito 72, 2.5oz less than the OS50sx and over 6oz less than the Irvine 53. Plus,...

RE: New Goldberg Edge 540 Profile

Seems to me the 1/2oz weight saving in the rear wouldnt be as substantial as having the low-weight 5475's centering abilities, though I guess the 225mg is slightly faster. Plus ,Im thinking if I go...

RE: New Goldberg Edge 540 Profile

3+ hrs flight time on a 720mah, 6v pack ? Wow , never heard of that before ! I always thought a 6v pack needed to be higher capacity compared to a 4.8v pack.
How many , and what length ext's...

RE: New Goldberg Edge 540 Profile

Seanychen,

Thanks. I went to the ElectroDynamics site but couldnt find the pack you were talking about. Sounds like the best idea though. Sure, a 6v 720 pack wont last as long as a 4.8v 600mah...

RE: New Goldberg Edge 540 Profile

OK , mine is in. Covering job is excellent. Of course I like the way it looks and is the main reason I got it. Even though it might not do a thing for performance the airfoiled ele/stab looks great...
