I got this off a friend who had no info on it. It runs (engine and electronics) but has a missing spur gear.
I would like to try to find one, but have no idea how to go about that without knowing...

RE: Stihl 56CC gas/glow conversion - need feedback

Thanks for the props guys (no pun intended) :D I could not have done it without your research and contributions.

I ran it this weekend and it was swinging an MA 18x6 @ 10,200 rpm. I think my...

RE: speed record brushless AIRBOAT 75.2mph

Tether airboats? Are you seriously comparing an airboat to a tethered airboat? I want to see one of those tethered boats run at those speeds without a tether, let alone float. And good luck...

RE: craftsman 55

I am running my gas/glow conversion backward. It runs great. I had this conversation with a friend the other day about nitros running poorly backwards. The crank journal determine timing on the...

RE: A favor....

av8tor

Considering the mill work and balancing of the flywheel, prop hub, FB ring, carb rebuild and free shipping...the Stihl 27cc is a great deal!
I will go post this over at the airboat...

RE: gas fuel with glo plug no ignition

I am using HEET to cut my glow fuel, but I would not cut it 50/50 using the 15/16 glow. I would try 2/3 glow mixing in 1/3 HEET to stay closer to a final 10/10 mix before cutting it with the...

RE: MY SI3G - Nitro's Revenge

Video is a little shaky, but these were the best runs of the day after stripping a rudder linkage, dunking the motor, leaking from all three sponsons. Still had a good time. There is still some...

RE: crankcase sealing on gas/glow conversions

I put the spoiler on to prevent flipping at high speed. It did plow though...good call [:@] And the boat at 20lbs, did not need it. At least not yet :D I had 1/2" standoffs if needed, but did not...

RE: crankcase sealing on gas/glow conversions

OK, you were right and I was wrong. I picked up the carb rebuild kit at lunch. I was looking down the venturi and noticed the butterfly was indeed opening away from the idle circuits. Sorry for...

RE: crankcase sealing on gas/glow conversions

Butterfly is right, but I did not rebuild the carb per the strong recommendation. If I start to back off WOT it just dies, even with the glow igniter hooked up. I am pretty sure it is running real...

RE: crankcase sealing on gas/glow conversions

Thanks for the quick reply guys. Do you think the problems I had getting anything other than WOT would point to this crank leak? I am still gonna rebuild the carb, but just wonder if increasing...

crankcase sealing on gas/glow conversions

I am new to gas/glow conversions and just finished up my 56cc stihl conversion. I used permatex moto1 high temp gasket maker to seal the crankcase halves.

During the initial testing, I had...

RE: Stihl 56CC gas/glow conversion - need feedback

I got it from Mark at brillellicustoms.com. I paid for two machinings, for a great price. The stihl prop hub was custom cut with reverse threads. I sent him the crank to ensure a good hub. He also...

RE: Stihl 56CC gas/glow conversion - need feedback

Thanks for the feedback rangerfredbob. Yes, the mount is painted steel and is quite rigid. I may end up with a top plate to tie it together if it looks too flimsy. Good eye on the nyloc nuts ;) I...

MY SI3G - Nitro's Revenge

I am building this boat as a tribute to Mike "Nitro" Strouse who passed earlier this year.

This is an SI3G Kit with a Stihl 56CC converted to run on GAS/GLOW.
She will swing a 18" to 21" prop....
