RE: ANYBODY FLYING A DYNAFLITE BUTTERFLY ANYMORE?

Jimmy,

The spoilers on my Butterfly bring it down pretty steeply without a lot of speed buildup. If you look close at the picture, you can see that the length is only 6 bays of the inboard wing...

RE: ANYBODY FLYING A DYNAFLITE BUTTERFLY ANYMORE?

Here is a picture of a Butterfly that I just completed. As you can see in the pic that I changed to profiles of the wing tips and rudder. It added about 4 sq. in. to the rudder and the wing span is...

RE: Robbe Geier flying wing glider

Here is a picture of the replacement fuselage. I'll smooth it up with some auto body filler and spray some paint on it to complete the job.

RE: ANYBODY FLYING A DYNAFLITE BUTTERFLY ANYMORE?

This is a picture of a Butterfly this spring for an older gent in our club. I did the maiden on it before I turned it over to him. It flies great. I built the wings with spoilers in them. The...

RE: ANYBODY FLYING A DYNAFLITE BUTTERFLY ANYMORE?

Hey echostud,
Thanks for the idea. I hadn't thought about increasing the length of the forward fuselage to deal with the tail heaviness from the addition of tail wheel and flight controls. That's a...

RE: Robbe Geier flying wing glider

Now that was a strange upload. Don't know why it didn't load in the usual thumbnail format.

RE: Robbe Geier flying wing glider

Hey Alex,

Here a couple more pictures of my Geier. The first is the bottom of the wing. Then there is a closeup of the servo mounting.

RE: Robbe Geier flying wing glider

Thanks for the info Rich.
If this model has been laying around from the late eighties, I can see way the plastic in it was so brittle and cracked easily. I figured that it was an older model when...

Robbe Geier flying wing glider

I just completed this Geier flying wing glider. I built it from and old kit that I traded for. I'm not sure how old it might be, but I know it went through 3 other peoples hands before I got it. The...

RE: ANYBODY FLYING A DYNAFLITE BUTTERFLY ANYMORE?

A picture of a Butterfly that I built for one of our retired guys flying group members is posted in my gallery. I flew the craft a few times before I turned it over to the owner. It preformed very...

RE: Aerotow plane ?

I fly a BTE Flying King with an OS 91 FX and it tows 100 inch sailplanes very nicely. If you are looking to do a full build project, you won't find a better kit than one from BTE. If you're looking...

RE: why did you decide to get into this hobby?

I was a commercial helicopter pilot for many years and lost my medical, so I figured if I can't fly the real any longer, RC would be a kind of a subsititute. I also got back into model building after...

RE: About to start first build

Kaos has got the right idea. A good straight hollow core door with a piece of 1/2 inch dry wall works just about as good as anything. I have commercial produced building board and I still like the...

RE: First kit/get back into it plane

I have to second what RVM and tailskid. The BTE Flyin' King is the way to go. My FK was maidened today. What a great flying plane. The last build I did was 1969. I couldn't have picked a better kit...

RE: New Building Surface Ideas?

Another surface that works well over a hallow core door is a 1/2" sheet of dry wall. That is my current building table. It's very flat and hold pins better than my cork covered board.

RE: Want to get into glider towing- what plane?

Hey flyc,

Check out the BTE Flyin' King as towplane. It can handle a Saito. I think the largest I've heard of being used is the 180. I'm running a OS.91FX on mine. Seems to be a fair number of...

RE: Senior Telemaster info

Darklotus,

Have you concider the BTE Flin' King? I can tell you that the quality of the kit can't be beat. I'm overpowering mine with a OS 91 FX. The pay load it can handle is in the 5 to 6...
