RE: Spark Plug Identification

Thanks for that input. a number of my fellow modelers have had bad experiences with fake Chinese plugs. I shall order the CM6.

Spark Plug Identification

Hi guys,

The plug in the photo comes from an SV 50 cc engine. Can anyone identify the type of plug (perhaps an NGK equivalent?) as it has nothing at all (i.e. Chinese copy) etched on it or...

RE: 3 x DLE 30's - cranky

Has anyone changed out the DLE carb for a "real" Walbro carb. If so, what is the result, which model of Walbro and where do your get it if successful?

RE: 3 x DLE 30's - cranky

No, they are not. We all work our own engines. One of us has about 20 years with gas engines and I have about 10.

RE: 3 x DLE 30's - cranky

Regarding the DLE being a sweetheart. That is why we all bought one and I (and they) are very surprised by our problems. I am unaware of a DLE 30 in the club that runs well. (Not true for the DLE...

RE: 3 x DLE 30's - cranky

Yes, I far as I know we are all still using the stock plug. It was only today that I saw the posts. What I wanted to ask is - Is the plug almost always the culprit to weird behavior or are there...

3 x DLE 30's - cranky

I have looked at the DLE 30 postings and some people seem to think that the cranky nature of the DLE 30 is usually the bad stock plug. In our club we have (at least) 3 members with DLE 30's (real...

RE: GP Super Stearman Gas vs. Nitro in cold climates?

People are jawing here about a DLE 30 in the GP Super Stearman. Has anyone actually built one and flown it with the DLE? How much lead did you end up using if this project has come to fruition?

AutoCAD drawing of DL-55 available

For what it's worth. For builders who may want one I have a .dxf and a .dwg exact scale drawing of a DL-55 available. Send an e-mail as these files are not supported here.

RE: syssa aircraft 30cc engine SAP-180HP

You won't get much lead out with the SAP 180. It is very light - 39 ounces all up. If you need weight go with a zenoah 26 or look for a EI converted Zenoah G38. Even old they are like the...

RE: DA-50 vs ZDZ 50 NG?

ZDZ or DA? It's not really a fair comparison in 2009. Both are fine engines BUT the DA is state of the art and US supported by a fine group of guys out there in Arizona. Because the DA 50 is the...

RE: spe-26 in big stick

Very interesting observation. Further proof that the engine is fundamentally junk put together with bent (??????) parts. What are they thinking, that ALL Americans are stupid? Since I bought one I...

RE: carb rebuilding

If you have a lot of problems with fuel leaks even after rebuilding, just replace the carb. Cost is only about $45 and is the airplane not worth having a reliable engine? Try the Walbro WT201-1...

RE: Best 26cc Engine

Of the 26's out there the Evolution 26 has a good rep but has that dog of a front carb (probably OK in a YAK though). The Zenoah 26EI is a rock solid performer but very heavy by today's standards. ...

RE: spe-26 in big stick

I have to admit that the SPE 26 is fundamentally junk. I also have switched to the RXEL ignition and pitched the unreliable Melody unit that came with it. I agree that it is especially badly...

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

True, but you can buy Chinese garbage 26-28 cc engines or you can buy something made in the USA that will run beautifully and last a LONG time. I saw this engine at Joe Nall and it is a gem. It...

RE: spe-26 in big stick

Have you checked the timing on your SPE? Mine was set to 45 BTDC and it ran like crap. It run much better when it was reduced to the STANDARD of 28-30 deg BTDC. The ignition by Melody is also not...

Can anyone suggest a source for a header/canister combo for the ZDZ 40SE? Troy Built seems to be a non-starter.

RE: What to put a gasoline motor on my Extra 300 1.60 airplane. NEED HELP!!

Definitely NOT a 50 cc engine. Overkill supreme on a 74" model. The SPE 26 would be a great match. It is very very light for its size and cheap too. I would recommend the 3W 28 but it's way too...

RE: 5+5+1 Starting technique awesome!

I have tried that on my ZDZ 40 each time I take it out and it has never worked for me. It is always back to the close choke, flip til it fires, open choke and flip til it starts. The restarts are...

Does anyone know the installed weight of a "US Engines 25". The engine is no longer available, but there must be quite a few out there.

Thanks,
