I had the version II I think and I put the RX batteries (two A123's) in the compartment just behind the turbine under a spar if I remember correctly, balanced without any ballast.

It's not a carbon fibre fuselage, or at least mine isn't it's glass fibre, just run them as you normally do one horizontal one vertical inside a bit of hollow push rod.

Rudder bias is to allow sufficient elevator movement, carful you don't compromise this, leave the tail skid free they then swivel if you inadvertently touch them on landing or taxying, its a long way...
