RE: Any of the Carolina 1/2a Crew left out there?

While not an official member of the "crew", I feel a certain nitro-psycho-induced bond with them although I live cross the border way up here in VA. I"m sitll around, just been fighting some illness...

RE: A-10 Plans?

Well shoot. Seems I went through a lot of bother for nothing. That's all good anyway, I expect to see some A10s buzzing around now.

RE: A-10 Plans?

Getting the plans duped now, never made color plan copies before so I'll have to wait a few days for the print shop to get them done. Good news is that the plans will also be scanned so I will have...

RE: A-10 Plans?

Well now James, in that case I may just have to deliver the plans in person;)

I've looked over the plans carefuly and I don't see any copyright stamps. They were published in MAN sometime I...

RE: A-10 Plans?

I have them. I actualy built the plane and it flies fine. It's a double sided plan in red and black, a little difficult at first to figure out, but it's a very easy build. PM me and I can copy you a...

RE: Schoolboy build thread

Oh my, still working on it! Life stuff happened that delayed the build. But not to fear, all I have left is to fit the radio and any last minute stuff (you know the things that are somehow forgotten...

RE: Glow plug life?

How long is a piece of string?

I have some glow plugs from the 80's that still run strong. I've had others that lasted 5 flights. I can't honestly answer how long a glow plug will last. How...

RE: Rookie COG Question

Yes to all of the above :D

My singular venture in to front control/ rear engine airplanes taught me that everything else is easy. Finding the sweet spot between the balance point and neutral...

RE: Rookie COG Question

Yes, it is French for "duck". And Voisin was a French engineer, if you look at the 1911 you can see the general layout of a duck with the wings near the back and a long neck out front. I'm sure...

RE: Paypal. Off topic but perhaps of interest

Don't know. I stopped using PayPal years ago. Nothing but trouble and customer service is appalingly bad, even for an Indian based company. My life has been a joy without it.

RE: Rookie COG Question

It gets really fun when you are building a canard airplane, the CG is not necesarily where the plane balances, nor is the "neutral point" the actual CG. For those planes you use a kind of "center of...

RE: It's Not 1/2 A

What a waste. You could have built 4 dozen 1/2A airplanes from what it took to make that one model.

RE: House 0f Balsa 1/12 P51 (.061-.10) build

Eons ago I built the ME 109 and FW 190 kits. Yes, they have molded plastic top fuselage and no, the plans aren't really complete enough to build off of (no wing ribs, the upper fuse was plastic and...

RE: Schoolboy build thread

Yeah I guess. It may pass the "10 foot rule" ( or look good from your house in NJ :D ), but I've certainly done better coverings. Oh well, this is my first rudder only and it's survivability is in...

RE: Schoolboy build thread

Right- had an OK day, thousand and one distractions but managed to get the wing covered (mostly) Not so good covering session, my mind wasn't on it and made some mistakes, but it will all come out...

RE: A Grassna on the building table

That's really great. Scratchbuilding is in fact a lot easier than most people think. I know that nowadays just about every flier grew up on ARFs and foamy electrics, so scratchbuilding from free...

RE: A Grassna on the building table

That's a good plane you are building. I don't see any fundamental problems with what you are doing. Is this your first scratchbuilding/ kit bash
project?

RE: Schoolboy build thread

No bottom spar on mine. The webs to seem to stiffen the structure quite a bt and gives the ribs something to "grip". I'm going to build it like that and see what happens. I've built other planes...

RE: Schoolboy build thread

Sure, and if there were micro proportional FM digital airborne radios and polyfoam the same could be said. But it is what it is now, and was what is was then. Back in the 60s there was no internet...

RE: Schoolboy build thread

Right, I'll install shear webbing on my wings. I was thinking about doing it anyway, but I won't be using a "la-ser" to cut the webs ;)
