RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

looks great - good luck on the maiden. What did you use for elevons and how are they attached? I was planning on using stockers and HD packaging tape.

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Pyrock - How did you like the 16/15/4 compared to the 16/25/4? Everyone's raving about the 15 so I just ordered one for the fun of it. Seems the wt savings might be significant. Although my...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Go to post #14 in this thread for universal combat module interface. Uses stock combat module . It's only around $25 if I remember right . Bought one and it works great - put it on any plane with...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

FC : have you tried or heard of anyone trying the APC 6.5 props (10 - 15 pylon)? I think they might work w/ my 16/25/3 but I know they are designed for glow and don't know how they would perform in...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

According to the simulations I ran, that motor won't produce enough thrust when used in a direct drive application. E-Flite recommends gearing it 6.6:1 and running 10 - 12" props. I would highly...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

SQVUE - I ran a quick Motocalc (you really should get this) on that motor and it seems that if it's geared 2.8:1 it will produce about 22 oz thrust with a 7x5 or 6 prop while pulling about 20A on a 3...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

T-1 : This plane is great w/more power. I have a Mega 16/25/3, CC35 esc, UBEC, TP2100 3 and 4 cell lipos. It's scary fast with plenty of vertical. I've only flown it a few times and am still...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

reehoe - I've been flying electric for about 2 yrs and while I certainly don't think I'm an electronics expert ( I'm a commercial / industrial electrician) I'm fascinated with the rapid advances...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Thanks for the info - the motor is off a little - the rear (prop end) is more to the rt than is the front. I thought that might be designed in but I guess not. As far as it needing a lot of down...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Flew mine today for the first time and it was just awesome. I was running out of light so I didn't do much but trim it, cruise it , and punch it a few times but it had great power even with a...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

MT : that really is a great video - everyone I show it to is duly impressed. I'm setting up a 16/25/3, but am interested in the 16/15/4 for it's lower wt. and obviously great perf. I ran some...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Pyrock : how do you like the plane / setup? Would you make any changes? Mine is almost ready to go. Waiting for better weather, still frozen tundra up here (Wisconsin) you know. I made a scoop...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Thanks for the info - On the thrust angle issue, my motor actually slightly angles toward the left side of the plane. Do you think that is detrimental / should I adjust it so it vectors straight...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

FoamCrusher - You seem to have experience with the brushless swap and I'm in the middle of my first one and have a few questions. My stock motor has a slight angle to it when viewed from above -...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Pyrock - I sent you a pm with a Motocalc chart attached so you can see the approximate effects of different props. This data suggests near stock performance with the 6X5.5 on 3 cells, so it seems...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

I was setting up the radio and see there is an option for aileron differential. Do you use any or have you heard if others do for this setup? if so how much? Motor sounds wicked! you are braver...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

I've only been flying for 2 yrs and for me the Stryker is a little squirrely if I'm not giving it 100% concentration. I'm hoping some expo and mixing will smooth out the brushless mutant. My...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

I don't know where these numbers are coming from but the 4 cell battery might be the hot ticket here. Motocalc shows your motor with a 4 cell TP 2100 draws 25.4A, 15000 rpm, 27oz thrust with 7x7. ...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

I think your setup will be fine - but based on the numbers I'm running (and that alone), I think the 3 turn motor is better for this application. You have to take this all with a grain of salt cuz...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Motocalc obviously isn't real world but is surprisingly accurate for predicting current, watts (power), etc. I have confirmed this many times with a Whattmeter. You have a pretty high amp setup -...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

Pyrock - I suggested the 2 esc's as a possible way of using the original F27 FM 27 mhz radio to retain combat capability while upgrading to a brushless setup. I realize the advantages of using a...

RE: Brushless F-27 Stryker

I'm currently working on a brushless setup that would retain the combat capability. I am installing a Mega 16/25/3 (I know it's a little heavy) and I believe a possible solution is to run 2...
