Default 1700 problems

Hi Kevin,Ed
I just got my engine back from Denmark and still have a problem. It starts on propane and changes over to fuel ok, the problem is when I throttle up the engine spitts and spudders like it is loaded up. If I pull the throttle back to idle it cleans up and runs ok, but it is very hard to take off because I use so much runway for it to start working.
Denmark did the updates on the engine,( new ecu, temp probe and tail cone). The number on the ecu is 2300-D1-505. Any answers?

Default 1700 Spitting and Sputtering

Hi Don

The spitting and sputtering is a side effect of the increased throttle response and decreased throttle lag in the D1 ECU version. With resepct to the long runway usage, I'm not sure what to say. Whenever we run the engines up prior to shipment, they have an immediate thrust increase with very little delay. Can you tell me a little more about your fuel system set up.

Default 1700 problems

Hi Ed,
Yes I do have brakes on my Roo, AMA says we have to. I have a 2 leter fuel tank with a 6oz header tank. I just started having this problem that is why I sent my engine to Denmark. Leif thought it was something wrong in the combustion chamber, he said he would have to make some changes inside. He thought it was a low temp in the chamber. Before it had this problem I did a thrust measurment with a scale, I was getting about 18 pounds of thrust. I did the same measurment now ( doing it the same way) and only getting 15 pounds of thrust. It flies alot slower, why the sudden loss in thrust? It starts a lot quicker and responce is better but it does'nt seem right. If thats the way the new ECU works I will live with it. Thanks for your help.

Default Engine Change

Hi Don

If there is that dramatic a change, then something is not quite right. Let me check with Lars in the morning and see what was done.

Default 1700 problems

Hello Don

You mention you are having problems with your 1700 and you also said the ECU P/N was 2300-D1.

This ECU is for a 2300 AES not 1700 AES engine, did LARS or LEIF send you the wrong ECU? This may explain your problem.

Cheers

Default ECU version

Hi Rob

Your right, that would be the wrong ECU. Missed that the first time.

Don

I will get you the correct ECU.

Ed
