constant wet start
I have a Sim1200. It is full auto start. Everytime is starts it's a wet start with the tail cone glowing red and flame is seen exiting the rear. I am concern about this as there is nothing I can do about it. I read posts which state that after many hot starts the tail cone get weaken and will collapse. The good thing is that is is mounted on the outside of the model. I am afraid to mount it inside a scale model. Why is this happening?

Hi Othneal!
It sounds like your RPM board need to be degaussed. There is a short description of the remedy for this on the [link=http://www.simjet.com/service.htm]SimJet[/link] website. As I recall your 1200 has a gap between the blue cover and the rest of the case- if you put the magnet on a stick and pass it into the gap you won't even have to remove the cover to perform the procedure.

Kevin
I would say within the past month. I have been putting in about three flights a day over the weekend. I noticed that began to hot start more and more. Last weekend I put in about 9 flights. about the 6th flight I noticed that the engine would ramp up, the pump was pumping fuel. Flame was shooting out of the engine and the cone was turning red hot. Sometimes it would continue as the engine rpm increase to idle speed. Other times it would just keep shooting flames out and would not increase to idle speed. I have a festo shut off valve in line. I tried turing the valve close to restrict the flow of fuel. It does not stop the flames until the valve is completely closed and the engine shut down.

There is a chance that you are using too much propane or too high a pressure. My 1200 did that, one side of the cone turned red on start up. I now use the regulated propane valve from Great Northern. I only use the first click of the valve and no more red on the cone.

RE: constant wet start
did you ever get this worked out?
Just so you know, I bought a second hand 1200 that was doing the same thing. It turned out that the starter was not fully disengaging from the engine.
I made a slight adjustment and moved the starter motor back a tiny bit and it solved the problem. Never flamed again.

Just a thought.
Have you tried to close the manaul shutoff valve before you fill the tanks ?
Maybe fuel is seeping through the pump and the electric valve into the turbine ?
This happened to one of my friends turbines.
