Default 2300 fuel cosumption

Hey, just wondering what is the average fuel consumption for a Simjet 2300. I was running mine at full throttle yesterday to get an idea on how much fuel I was going to need in my DV8R. Turns out I'm burning 12.5 oz/min! That's 50% than Simjets specs and more in line with the 3000. I might have to change my jets marking from DV8R to Hummer LOL! Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Shaun

Shaun,

My 2300's average consumption is 10.8 oz/min at full throttle, but it is only at full throttle for 30 seconds or so during takeoff . I get 10 minutes flight time on my Roo with a 100 oz jet-tec tank.

Hi Shaun

Your consumption seems a little high. The stated values were measured at STP(Standard Temperature and Pressure - 15C at Sea Level). What are your test conditions? How are you measuring your consumption?

Hi Ed,

I was running a 32oz tank for 2min and 20sec. I actually got 2:30, but that's about 10 seconds of sputtering from the fuel running out. The temperature was 1C at 430m. I'm running Canadian Tire kerosene with AeroShell 560 oil. Maybe I'll try it without the FOD, but it's pretty coarse and not sure if it would make any difference. Wonder if I got the wrong motor lol!

Cheers,
Shaun

Hi Shaun

Depending upon the make and size of the FOD guard, it can make a difference on performance. If you could re-run your test without the FOD guard and post the results, that would be helpful.

Hey Shaun,

My fuel consumption of 10.8 oz/min is with a FOD screen. I am running AeroShell 560 as well with 1-K as the fuel. I checked mine at 560' above sea level and 82 deg F.

Hey ED,

When are you going to send me those Simjet decals?
