Simjet Fadec Max Battery Voltage?
What is the maximum battery voltage that the Simjet Fadec 2002-D2 (with a Simjet 1200) can operate with?
The manual just says 9.6 V minimum.
I'd like to use a four-cell A123 pack, which would be between 13.8 V (100% SOC) and 13 V (20% SOC which is a far as I'd want to go). The 13.8 will drop to 13.5 pretty quickly, where it will stay for most of the usable capacity of the cells. Under the starter load the voltage will drop to around 12 V.
Three cells would be 9.9 V to 9.75 V (9 V while driving the starter) which I believe is not enough for good starting.
Thanks,
Phil

RE: Simjet Fadec Max Battery Voltage?
HI Phil,
In specific ref. to the SIMJET 2002 D2 ECU's only, I can tell you that a 3 cell LiPo (11.1vdc) has been a favorte to repalce the 9.6v Nicad.
The 9.9 3 Cell A123 if fine as when fully charged is nearly 11 volts. (at least 10.95) I have personal experiance with this setup and it works fine. This cannot be used on SIMJETS fitted w/ GASPAR 604 /605 ECU's however.
I cannot advise you to use the 4 cell A123 as I have no experiance and thus cannot recommend it.
Perhaps other 2002 D2 users can advise.
