Hi TommyNad,
You cannot change a transmitter crystal without having the transmitter retuned, it is not legal to do this and it must be sent into an authorized repair center to be retuned.
You can however change your receiver crystal without having the receiver retuned. Just remember that if you have a Futaba receiver and it is on either a Low band (channel 11 to 35) then must not cross over to the High band (channel 36 to 60) range.
I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.
Sincerely,

THANK YOU....
I am an old radio head and a big HAM
so to speak and I have been telling people this....
Thanks for ending a long and pointless argument with the non techs at the field....
P.S. would a "low band" tuner be tuned at the factory to be in the middle of the low band channels? meaning would a channel in the middle of the low band have the best receiption?
Thanks
again

TN,
Yes the low band receivers are tuned to the "center" of the low band or channel 23. This of course would mean that using a channel 23 crystal would theoretically give the best reception, but you will still find no problems using a crystal on any of the other low band channels.
Thanks, Krysta
