I have several servos that 'bounce' when going back to center. To further clarify: When the servo is at it's limit in either direction, I can quickly move the stick back to center and the servo will attempt to go back to center. It appears to 'bounce' on either side several times before reaching center.
I have been told that perhaps I have a dirty 'pot'. Does this sound correct? If so, how/can I clean it?
Thanks in advance for your help....

Hi ProFile,
If you servo is bouncing more when it is at center, then I would suspect bad pots. If it is more noticeable on the outer portions of its travel, I would suspect it may be either a long lead or a Y-connector if you are using one.
If these are higher end servos, I would suggest sending them in for service as the pots may need to be replaced. If you have lower end (standard) servos, you may want to try using some electronic contact cleaner, but this will not cure the problem for very long at all.
I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

They are S148 and S300x servos so sending them in is probably more than I want to do....
Where are the pots located? How do I get to them?
If it is the lead that is the problem and I try another one and get the same, is there a way to fix it? Some type of filter?
Thanks again...

ProFile,
You will of course need to remove the screws, take the servo case apart and you will find the pot next to the motor underneath the output gear.
If it is the leads, either using heavy duty leads or a filter should help the problem.
Thanks, Krysta

Krysta,
Thanks for your help. I have several that have exhibited this behavior. I'll try cleaning one and see what happens.
I'll also try getting new, heavy-duty leads for others.
Thanks again for your help,
PF

Hi NSRC,
You may try it, but remember that if your servos are under warranty it is better to send them in. If you take them apart you will void the warranty.
Thanks, Krysta

My Feedback: (90)
Hi Krysta,
I tried to pop the printboard out of the 9292 case after remvoing the top cover and the gear set. It did not go well. Looks like there is something holding it back firm. Any hint?
The two 9202s are about 3 years old and were used in a flip3d with 6V power supply for about 1 and half years. Both developped the bouce problem recently. I am keeping flying the airplane though.
Thanks --NSRC

Hi Krysta,
Looks like this will be "big" job. You mean the motor can not be pulled from the case without desoldering the board? I thought the pot cleaning can be done by just pull the motor out of the case.
How much will it cost me to have it done by Fuatab service?
Thanks --NSRC
