Default Square plug trainer plug question

I just came back from the club flying field I just joined and was pissed that I could not start my training because Futaba changed the shape of their trainer cord plugs. Why would they go and do something stupid like that for ??? Is a trainer cord available to go from a square plug for the trainer radio, to a round plug for the student radio??? Thanks. Dan

Also, I bought the Real flight simulator, and the dummy radio has the same square plug in the back of it, as my 9c. Could I use my 9C as the trainer radio, and the Real flight dummy radio as the student radio if I bought a square to square trainer cord??? Thanks

The new connector is more secure and less prone to breakage than the older connector, especially if you lay down the transmitter or it fall onto its back. The trainer cord you need is:

FUTM4420 MDTC TRNR CORD MICRO/ROUND PLG $19.99

These parts can be ordered through any hobby retailer who sells Futaba systems and accessories. They are currently out of stock, but due to arrive in the next couple of weeks or so. Get your order in to make sure you get one.

The RealFlite controller cannot be used as a trainer box with a Futaba transmitter. They are not designed or intended for such use.

Can the RealFlight Controller "cord" which has the round on one end and square on the other be used as a trainder cord? They connect with the single male/femal plug toward the end of the round plug so wasn't sure if the pins "aligned"

Marc,

Sorry, but the RealFlight cords can't be used as trainer cords between two transmitters. There aren't enough signal lines connecting the two to work.
