Going to Nags Head 1st week of October. Where can a man do a little sky hole boring out there?? Guys I go with are fishermen, I'm not... I would rather fly!! We'll be there from Saturday to Friday... Also any good hobby shops??

Although I'm not from the Nags Head area, I go there whenever possible. I was able to fly at the Dare County airport in Manteo. It was by accident as I went to the airport to check it out (was flying a Cherokee at the time), and saw a guy flying a Falcon 56 on the left side from the FBO. BUT... the better news, is there is a club there, not too far from Manteo located close to the Dare County Landfill!... I am sure they are AMA sanctioned and knowing the people around there, I would be willing to bet they would like to have you fly with them. The flying sight is on Hwy 64 not too far from Mann's Harbor. I would say it is about 15 miles west of Manteo.... Hope this helps... and w/Isabel coming thru today, I hope those guys will have a flying site there tomorrow !!!

PS... have also flown slope off of Jockey's Ridge in Kill Devil Hills.... usually on the other side from the people w/hang gliders... but... make sure you are in good shape.... it's higher than it looks.. and it is ALL SOFT SAND !!!...LOL

Never even crossed my about AMA... I know just where you're talking about.. Been goin' down there for 12+ years, very familiar w/ the area... I'll also check out the gliders at "The Ridge".. Been up 'em a time or two, know what you mean.. One of the guys we go with has been goin' since '62. Says dunes these days are mear bumps compared to then..
