Got to the field today and found Larry Stenhouse and John Beech of Modelsport mag (my favorite and only video mag) at the field. If you have been following for the last 2 years, Larry has been working on this hudge Coast Guard bomber with 4 OS 70's. He was trying to get the 6 flights on it before the IMAA fly in in Fayetteville next week. On the 6th flight it went into a right turn that Larry said it would not come out of. I watched as the plane went right, nose up, then nose down stright in. It was so quite, it was beyond belief. I have watched on Modelsport for the last 2 years as Larry has built this plane from nothing-- till today- and I will tell you, he is a bigger man than I. He took it very well and said he "has a lot more room in the garage now". A true "class act"-- John has it all on video-- Look for it in the next issue. Bummer-- in the largest sense of the meaning.

Weight was right at 50 lbs. Batteries were OK. He had flown it 3 times already before today. To me, it looked like an engine quit and the torque carried it over. I am not saying an engine quit-- only it reacted that way. I am not sure of the wingspan-- I think in the 120" area.

Just saw this about Larry's bomber. I too have been following the build on ModelSport magazine for quite some time. What a shame. Larry clearly is a bigger man than I....
