I know about Forward Air and Greyhound. Unfortunately, the box is too large for Greyhound and the drop point for Forward Air is inconvenient. Does anyone have any experience with any other shipping companies ? I need to ship from San Jose , CA to Washington ,DC Box size L90" W 26" H 20" weighs approximately 40 lbs.
Thanks,
Bob Neal

Whichever one you choose, make sure to insure it for the max amount. Greyhound does not have more than $300 insurance but they never use a fork lift, all hand carried. Freight companies on the other hand, never use their hands, all work by forklift and they are great at punching holes in crates. Make sure the crate has skids on the bottom so a forklift can easily get under the crate to pick it up, otherwise, they just push on the crate until the forks go under or through the side.
Good luck.

try UPS freight services...
I had giant scale heli ( the heli itself was over 45lbs , with crate it was around 100ish) shipped from Machester UK to NJ USA for less than Forward air charges coast to coast inside the US .

I opened an account with FedEx and have shipped various jets and planes all over the US. Most recently I shipped a Skymaster F-86 for $85 in its factory box. I shipped a CARF P-51 back east for under $100 I think it was. Basically Ive never paid more than $150 and the service has been good.
If you just use the online qute page and you dont have an account its much more expensive. The more you ship the better the discount too. If you have a business but not an account I would suggest you sign up and it will give you a better discount too.
International shipping Ive seen lower prices through UPS.

Call Jeff at 205-281-4125
He is a courier and does a blanket wrap service. Door to door delivery. May cost a couple bucks more sometimes, but are you kidding me? No packing, no building crate, no forklift through the jet, no insurance claims, no tracking numbers, no dis-assembling jet.... Just $200,000 in insurance coverage, a reliable guy with a cell phone you can call anytime to check on.
He delivered my Ultra Bandit to Miami, from Denver for $800. He has delivered 6 other $10,000+ jets that I am aware of so far.
Tell him Shaz recommended him. Good luck.
