Pre flight fuel agitation

Thread Starter

I'm curious to know what folks are doing about their fuel mix prior to flying. I presume that the turbine oil seperates from the fuel mix if it sits for a few weeks?
So RCUniverese members what do you do with your fuel prior to fueling up your jet?

Hi Quandry, I have not actualy noticed fuel oil separation before in all the years I've been flying, not even if the "mix" has sat for some time? Perhaps we should poll weather it actual dose separate.

In my experience it doesn't separate. I left some on a shelf in a glass container for about 2 months and it didn't...but because I'm super paranoid I give the can a good shake at the field before fuelling.

Never seen it separate, since the fuel was used within a month or less ( I assume that is the case for most of us )
I used the last 1/2 gallon out this can that was seating for about 1 years, all was normal and I didn't see any oil left in the can and the fuel had its usual thickness and to top it off I didn't shake the can before using it.
So, there you have it, I say shake it if that makes you feel better
Smoke oil, that is another story

If there was any separation at all, which I also have never seen. The car ride out to the flying field will mix it back up

Especially the way you drive !!!

We use mobil jet 2, the color is orange, easy to see any separation, and i stored fuel for an year or more, i just filtered again, shake it, and flew, without problem, and our engines when sent for inspection on jetcat dealer, are absolutely clean, bearings ok ( only.change for precaution after 25 run time ), no coking inside the engine.

I agree with two of the answers.
I voted that I always shake the fuel can prior to fueling the model. But also agree that the motion of my car with help stir the fuel around, especially in my car
