Has anyone else noticed just how not popular the new market place auction format is? Right now airplane classified are about 14 times more numerous than airplane auctions... Does anyone care to comment on why classifieds are so much more numerous than auctions?

When I sold my Extra, I just felt more comfortable listing a price and having someone pay that price. I also liked being able to sell it within 24 hours of posting. It is nice to have the auction format for those that like it though.

Galen....
....I think everyone is getting in on the still-free classifieds
right now....and like myself....have never posted an auction
and I'm a bit leary. I think later, it will cost a buck or something
to post a classified....I think that's reasonable....
....awhile back I posted a 5 day ad in my local newspaper to
sell a car....it was $35. down the drain....never got a call.

Our poll said that our current membership preferred classifieds to auctions. Therefore it is no surprise that our members would use classifieds over auctions. However some said they did like classifieds and we know by simply looking at ebay that many modelers also like tha auction format. That is why we gave the choice to our current members and future members of BOTH formats.
The auctions are still not nearly as high as volume because the bulk of buyers and sellers on ebay don't even know they can come to RCU and sell for 1/2 of ebay's prices and get in front of serious modelers. I think once the word gets out that section will fill up with members who prefer auction format.
We have been busy working on fixing up the forums to bring back the remaining features from the old site so all marketing efforts have been virtually non-existent to push the auction marketplace. My strategy is to make sure the current tools work perfectly for the current membership before worrying about the auction.
