What are those forked shaped things that hold planes in the ground while you're starting then and running up the throttle? I want to buy one off Tower but I don't know what to search for.

I think you're referring to the Aero-Mate Starting Stand by Midwest. Tower sells them. I'm very pleased with mine.

We have pre-flight tables in the pit area with hold back installed for each table. engines can be started and tuned and then aircraft caried to the flight line. No taxiing in the pits either in or out. Sure beats trying to do all that on the ground while the old knees creak. I notice that some of the web sites are showing kneeling pads. The same you would use for gardening. Personally I would never let gardening interfere with building or flying. For RC sailing you can sit in a chair.
