Default Futaba 149DP Antenna replacement or repair

The last 3 inches of my antenna got broken off.
I went to the local Hobby shop and purchased a replacement antenna.
The replacement was a piece of 3/16 AWG white wire.
This wire looks similar but the strands are silver(tinned) and has less of them than the original OEM strands. The strands also appear to be thicker.
The OEM is copper color and appears to be thinner with more strands.
I was told to cut it to 1 Meter (1000mm)
The oem measures 39inches aprox 1meter.
Will this wire perform like original ?
I would think impedence and length would be factors.

Futaba site states [link]http://www.futaba-rc.com/parts/futm3620.html[/link]

Are you looking to replace your receiver antenna, or looking for the proper length of a receiver antenna?
FUTM1610 AL0142 Rx Ant Wire AM 1000mm
FUTM1620 AL0146 Rx Ant Wire FM 1100mm
Fm states 1100mm but original is 39inches 1000mm?

If oem is the way to go, where can I get oem wire ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx in advance

Hi azvmax,

The antenna wire is sold in 1100 mm lengths as some FM receivers require 1000mm and some require 1100mm's. Your R149DP requires 1000mm's. It is always best to stay with the original length of your receivers wire.
As for the impedence, the 100mm difference is nominal and will not affect the receiver at all.
The wire will not matter as long as you use stranded wire and not solid wire. Whether it is silver colored or copper colored will not matter, and it may be that the silver one is only colored that way is it is tinned on the ends.

I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.
