I got my eye on the Futaba 9Z radio.
But I like Hitec Servos. Is there anything I need to worry about using this configuration?
From what I have been reading Futaba Servos and Hitec Servos use different technology and there are many differences. Is there a "Standard" on what information is sent from a Receiver to the Servos?
What about in a “Y” harness configuration?
I know they make JR and Hitec servos with Futaba connectors but I have been unable to find anything saying that they will function the same as a Futaba Servo?
If I remember correctly doesn't the packaging of a Futaba Servo say only to use with Futaba Receiver?
Thanks

I have used my 9z with an Futaba FM receiver (R127DF) and Hitec 5625's for a long time with no problems.
Hitec servos come with either a Futaba, JR, or Universal connector. Either Futaba or Universal will work fine on a Futaba receiver. I like the Universal so I can use Universal Y's, extensions, etc. Just don't flip the plug, it won't hurt anything but the servo won't work.
Make sure your Hitecs have the software patch to prevent lockout, it's been a known issue on some Hitecs for over a year now so you've probably already heard about it.
I also use my 9z with a R149DPS and JR servos, and Futaba and Tower servos with FMA and Hitec receivers.
Also note that the 9z synth may not work with non-Futaba receivers, if you are thinking about the synth.
That's my experience. I think most modern servos work with most modern receivers 99% of the time. Leaving myself 1% wiggle room just in case somebody knows of a situation where they won't.
