First off,
Hello everyone
I am going to be purchasing my first nitro RC in a week or so and am not really sure which one I am wanting to get. It is between these two right now XTM X-Cellerator and the Nitro EvaderST. I have a little experience with Evaders (elec) and some spare parts that will fit the nitro already. I have looked alot at info on both of them alot specs are almost the same, but I am not sure what tires come with the Evader. Can someone tell me? I know that the reviews of it say prolines but some of the pics that I have seen show the same junk that was on the elec I have. Thanks for any input you all can give me.

I hear alot of happy evader ppl. I run rc10gt, so I don't know either platform, but I would say stick with what you know, unless you don't like it. If you already have some evader experience, and it isn't negative, then run with it. Nitro is frustrating enough sometimes when you are familiar with the vehicle, so for a nitro noob(no offense). I would recommend going with the platform that you already know.
As far as tires...It really doesn't matter what it comes with. If you are gonna drop that kind of change on a vehicle, then an extra $20 or so for another set of tires, rims, and CA is chump change.
While you are at it, pick up a small variety of shock oil(20wt-50wt) for experimenting, some after run oil, air filter oil, and a temp gun.
Good luck, and have fun.

Yeah I like the electric evst that i have now, even tho I have broken several parts (as much my fault as the trucks
). I have heard some good things about the X-Cellerator so I was just wondering which people would choose between the two. How does the engines compare and things like that. Thanks for the advise avg_joe and thanks for the welcome monsterpede360!!

I own an Evader. Here's my personal pro's and con's.
PRO'S:
Stock engine cranks out nice torque
2-year engine warranty.. including normal wear and tear
Easy to work on
Good aftermarket support
CON'S:
Stock engine doesn't seem to last as long as other's (this may be due to the break-in instructions given with the truck).
Stock steering servo extremely weak
The plastic they use isnt as sturdy as other brands. Good racer, but only average basher.
Stock gearing is too low. Fast accelleration, but low top speed.
Now, ive never owned the X-Cellerator, but here's what ive heard.
PRO'S:
Stock engine runs very strong
Seems to last longer than the DTX.18 (its ABC vs ABN)
Steering servos have good power.
Very fast top speed
VERY durable truck
CON'S:
Very low aftermarket support compared to other nitro's
Geared too high (a bit too slow on acceleration). Some think its just fine tho.
Not as many LHS's carry XTM.. so you may be ordering. (Hobbytown USA will order the parts for you and wont charge you shipping.. if thats your lhs)
In all, though i really like my evader, I honestly would say that if i had to do it all over again, I would have gone with the X-Cellerator or maybe a CEN. The Evader for me is just geared too low, I'm not totally crazy about the engine, and the truck is a little too on the fragile side for me. I'll be racing it soon so i'll have a better opinion then. If you plan on spending money in the hobby tho, the Evader or an RC10GT would be good choices. Why? Because there is so much support for them that you can do pretty much anything to them.
oh yeah and i think the x-c looks cooler... tho you can always change the body

Another quick question. What radio comes with the X-Cellerator? It shows different radios with it on different sites. Tower shows an Aggressor and I am not sure what the radio is that it shows on Hobbypeople.

The truck came with two different radio's depending on the year it was built. I think its before 2004/after 2004 that determines which one it is. Not too knowledgable on it.

i don't know about the Hobbytowns by you, but the one by me drops the price 20% on your parts if you pay for them in advance when ordering.
my other LHS will get me anything i damn well please, though, so i usually go there. I do occasionally go to HTUSA just to throw some bucks at both local shops and make myself feel good.
the x-c is what *I* personally woudl go with if i were to buy an RTR ST, simply for the fact that its SH .18 will last longer. you can always buy a smaller clutchbell or bigger spur to make it sit up and beg
btw, it IS the agressor.

This is what hobbytown told me
"If it is a part you need us to order but something we would normally carry, then you do not need to pay up-front. If we DONT usually carry it, you need to pay us before we order it then we'll call you when it comes in."
Never told me anything about a 20% discount [
]. I was asking them about the ordering because i was thinking of gettin an XTM and CEN truck.
