Default duratrax .18 longevity?

For those who have one of those, how long are they lasting. Its an OS engine, but it seems to have a nickel coated sleeve instead of chrome which may affect its lifespan.

i've been using mine often for 8 months, and the compression is still like new.

i did break the connecting rod, but that was my fault, running it too cold during the winter months.
i bought a new piston/sleeve for about $30 new. i wasn't sure if i needed them at the time, but i didn't. so now i have them ready to go in whenever i do need them. i imagine if you run the engine right, and tune it correcty, any engine should last a decent time.

How is it for power.. probably not as much as a real OS 18. I have an OS 18 but new parts for them are expensive.. sleeves, pullstarts, one way bearings. all cost WAY more than the DTX 18.

It puts out very good power.. but not as much as the .18 CV-R.

As far as replacement parts go... thats why i purchased a starter box. Now worring about one-way bearings and pullstarts is a thing of the past.

true, but I just absolutely cannot tolerate dragging more crap around then I have to :P

also seems that a duratrax .18 pullstart should fit on the OS 18. both have 8mm shafts

horsepower wise, the DTX18 only makes about what a .12 CVR does...
but it makes MASSIVE torque, wheelstandingly badass torque. i think it's a pretty sweet mill as far as that's concerned.

As far as longevity is concerned, it *should* last you at least 4 gallons if you're an experianced nitro guy. the biggest problem with them not lasting is newbies are generally who owns them. not sayin anything bad, but you gotta admit its true, lol

Don't think it's really the newbies faults actually..Duratrax had a poor breakin setup for it listed...caused the engines to run lean and real hot....well ok it was a newbie thing cause really you should be checking temps and should reset all needles before ever trusting factory settings. My stock evader engine still ran well up to the point of changing it out for a os .18 cv-rx...I think i may have had about 1-1 1/2 gallons thru it but it did still have alot of power and compression

My DTX still runs like a champ, but it's a ***** to get started half the time.

my O.S. .18 CV-RX should be here in a day or so.
