I have a HPI MT I am thinking about to start racing. However, I have a low budget. I am upgrading my suspension this weekend, more out of necessity though. Right now its all stock...and has been idle for the past 6 months. (Damn thing won't start, even after the new pullstart. [:@])

Well, I am wondering if there's a bare minimum of ups I could get without spending a crap load. I have another expensive hobby (Well...sport/hobby) that also needs some money but I want to get into some racing, though not REAL serious racing.
Also, Impossible is Nothing.

Just work on tuning what you have got. Work hard on driving technique. I think you can be competative stock with a nicely setup car. Driving is more important than the car. Just learn your car really well. If you see yourself outclassed on the track in certain areas, focus on how to reduce the edge or upgrade a few parts to make a difference in that area. It is hard to just say upgrade this and that
. Figure out what you need to upgrade first. It will take lots of testing, but it will save you lots of money and pay off much more in the end.

like xPAGANx said, learn to make what you have fast.. a rocket isn't much good if you can't make the thing turn. You probably won't be competitive on a budget, but you can have fun.. good luck dude...

The hpi nitro mt isnt really race legal. Roar has a class for it but not many people run 4wd stadium trucks. Unless your track will let you run the 4wd with the 2wd, I would think about saving for a 2wd st if you are really interested in racing. You could also try to start a 4wd st class of your own, you would probably need to find atleast 8 people who would be interested in running them.

Hamburgerler: Couple hundred dollars.
Thanks for the advice. Yea, I was thinking about starting a 4WD class at this "local" place. I had no idea that MTs weren't race legal. I may just fall back to my Losi and race with that (Considering we already have all the upgrades...). Again, thanks for the advice. I'm still gonna try and race the MT, though not really competitively. As I said, my other sport/hobby eats a up my wallet and takes up a lot of my time.
