HPI's older engines have alot of look-alikes. I saw one the other day in my LHS that is in an onraod go-cart. It's also a .15 and looks like the early verson on the 15FE. I'm 99% sure it isn't an HPI make. I'd put my money on Ofna.

Someone has informed me that it is an old Kyosho. My guess it with a custom built roll cage.

That cage deffinatly came with the buggy and can't tell how good the welds are they could have been ground smooth and the paint doesn't let you see if the welds got hot enough. I really can't tell you what it is I think its older than I am

Hi
This fuel tank should work on it.

looks home made...whoever welded that roll cage together I sure hope doesn't weld anymore...looks like puddled the metal in to hold it together

From what I can tell, this buggy isn't a Kyosho. The early Kyoshos had chain drive and were built on frame rails with a cylinder-shaped fuel tank that was rear mounted. The engine is most likely an OS .21 VF-BR, judging by the slide carb. The side of the block should have "OS MAX" casted into it. I'm stumped on who made this chassis. It isn't a Thunder Tiger Silver Fox. A good site to check out it http://www.landjump.net for info on these.
At any rate, what you have there is a nice piece of history...be nice to it.

That thing appears to be in immaculate condition. Be sure you ID it before selling. You'd be suprised how much some screwy collectors are willing to pay for older rare RC's in that kind of condition. And the only 2 welds that I can make out in those pics, look fine to me. If I were you I wouldn't touch it at all until you ID it. It MAY be worth more money than its fun value will give you. If you doubt me just watch ebay and see the relatively high prices people are willing to pay for some of the old rarer tamiya electrics. I saw a NIB frog kit go for over $300 once. Of course that was a NIB, but some of these collectors are oddballs and willing to pay silly prices to get a peice or even parts car to help complete a product line collection.
I agree that you should post in the buggy section. That thing looks manufactured and I'm sure one of the oldtimers will recognize it.

yeah, engine is on the opposite side, rollcage has a different shape to it..front bumper doesn't quite look right, but at least we nailed down the approximate vintage of it
