I currently have a Rustler xl-5. I am passing it on to my son and want to make the move to nitro. I am going to use it mostly for bashing. I really like the looks of the Revo 3.3 and the Savage X. Which one do you guys recommended for speed, reliability, and ease of use? My local hobby shop sells both and carries parts for both. Is there another truck I should be considering? I don't want to spend more then $500.00. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Any name brand truck that you can get parts for will do you fine.
I'm sure people will tell you that if you want to bash, get the Savage and if you want to race, get the Revo. Honestly though, there's not all that much difference. I personally would prefer the Revo (I actually own both the Savage and a Revo) if I were choosing between the two right now.

go with the savage because its more simple than the revo and will take more of a bashing. i have owned niether car but from what people say, go with the savage for bashing and the revo for racing.

I don't believe I've ever heard the Savage refered to as easier to work on than a Revo. I know mine is not easier. Although some things on the "X" model are better than the older versions.

I own neither but if you want to consider another MT a little cheaper and TONS of upgrades then the tmaxx might be a good choice, most people here are gonna say the tmaxx is outdated and the revo is better, but im just giving you another option good luck on whatever you get im sure it will be a blast....

ha....outdated huh...have you ever ran a 3.3 Tmaxx???? that truck will eat any stock savage for a mid afternoon snack and not even have indegestion
if it weren't for the Tmaxx there would be no Savage....
trust me I have owned a Savage a Revo and I have 2 Tmaxxs now...the Revo is a great truck as well but I always go back to the Tmaxx.....
its as simple as this for me if I wanna race seriosly I would grab another Revo but for bashing the Tmaxx is my truck
the Savage is a decent truck but more complicated and therefore harder to work on..i actually hate working on them...thats why I traded over $1000 bucks worh of Savage stuff including a full truck just to get a 3.3 Tmaxx..with my old 2.5 sitting beside the 3.3 you can really appreciate what Traxxas has done to the 3.3 chassis in the way of improvements.....
buy what you want but my money goes to Traxxas.

I'm also new to nitro and just bought a Revo 3.3 and it's awesome. The tuning instructions and tech support are outstanding. If you are wanting an easy to tune truck with great customer support and great performance you should seriously consider a Traxxas product.

to be honest try going with stadium truck. something like a traxxas nitro sport/nitro rustler or hpi firestorm. not to expensive but still have the wanted raw power of a nitro vehicle. if you want a monster truck go with a traxxas maxx truck or any savage mt's. maxx trucks are more for like bashing around wheelie popping speed but the savage is more on the brute torque side of MT'S.[sm=punching.gif]
