Default Ramp Plans!

Alright, well the weather is warming up and the rc season is about to kick off for me. I want to build a nice looking ramp. I have the wood and tools, and an idea of how I want to build it. It would be 3-4 feet long and 2-4 feet high. Check out my designs which I drafted using my hi-tech CAD program a.k.a. Microsoft Paint

the cross sections will be 1x4s or some strips of more plywood lol. the sides and top will be plywood and the back and bottom will be left open to save some weight.

.. lol so what do you all think? has anyone ever built a ramp like this before in here? I think its going to be 2-2.5 feet wide too. I might start on it today or might wait till it gets warmer outside

I built mine almost exactly like that although the dimensions werent the same, I used 2 braces in the 90 degree corner, and my leading corner brace is positioned like your top braces. When you go to screw down your surface make sure its plenty long, start screwing on the bottom, and cut the extra off. I redid my top twice because the first time it was too short. These are pretty horrible pics but you get the idea.

Edit: To make semi nice drawings try downloading google sketchup. You can make 3d models, it free, and its surprisingly easy to use.

Thanks for the pics. Mine is probably going to look exactly like yours hands, because that is the kind of wood that I have. Hands, yours looks a little bit heavier than bb16's, Is it hard to carry around? I will probably make mine fiarly narrow, like 2 feet wide to help save some weight, and also make it easier to fit in the back of a car.

I like both of your ramps, and thanks again for the pics, this helps a lot.

There is no way mine would fit in a back of a car, a truck yes but car no.
It is 4 foot high, 3 foot long, and 3 for 6 inches wide

Mine isnt so much heavy as it is akward to carry. If you were to lift it with one hand it would be moderatly heavy, but you cant really carry it with one hand because of the size. Mine will fit in the backseat of a car if you flip it upside down. Im fairly sure it will fit in my trunk too but I have a lumina and the thing has a massive trunk.

Heh...

My ramp is a bit of plywood i got wet and warped, which is just nailed to an "L" shaped frame (obviously the parts where it meets the plywood are cut so that it lies on a surface).

I also stapled a bit of lino to act as a smooth onramp.

Those look great for height, and I'm sure the manufacturers of your cars are rubbing their hands together with glee at the prospect of selling more parts.

I built mine out of a 4x8 sheet of plywood and some 2x3's. One side is 4' long, the other is 3'. Height at its peak is 21". It's hinged in the center, so I can fold it up and lean it up against the wall in the garage. Two lengths of chain hold it up when laid out. I'm going for distance (about 12' with my 'Pede on 7 cells).
The reason for the different lengths is that there's a steeper angle on the 3' side. I can't hit that side as fast though.
I almost wish I had built it somewhat curved, for a smoother transition, but... meh.

I think losi stocks skyrocketed when i built this ramp
Now i making some small 2.5 footers, one with a nice steep curve the other one more flat.
