First of all I would like to state that I can spend no more than $350 maybe $400 if I’m in the mood. I live on a farm (great fun, just had a friend bring over his 1:8th scale nitro monster, jumped a 6 foot gravel pile with it[X(]) so anyway I would like to have a vehicle that I can run on a dirt/gravel road as well as parking lots. I also want it to be blazing fast, and strong enough to get up from a crash. One of my biggest dilemmas is whether to go for electric or nitro, if I got the electric i know I can build one of those cars from the ground up easy but if i got a nitro my friend would probably help me. If I go with the electric I would wind up going brushless and that’s getting near if not more expensive than many of the nitros I was looking at. It needs to be a car that I can constantly upgrade and make faster (for me half the fun is in the shop and the anticipation of running). This would be my first RC but I only have the money to get one, as my first would be my last, and I do have mechanical experience as I live on a farm. Is there a specific type of car that I can get great performance on gravel roads, light jumps, and parking lots? I was looking at vehicles referred to as "truggies" which I liked both the design and aspects of drivability. The 4WD buggies look good to. Any ideas?

If your going nitro i say a Savage X SS. Here is one on e-bay

If you had even more money around 500 i would say a Cen GST 7.7
If electric i'd say:
E-Savage $300.00 comes with batteries and charger, you can probably find one cheaper on e-bay somewhere.

Also for a 2WD truck i would recommend a Stampede Xl-5 thier not as big as a 1/10 e-savge or e-maxx but for only $150.00 their a great deal. Add an 8 cell battery and their fast!

I found a nitro buggy from redcatracing called hurricane that i have heard good things about and it sounds alot better than the rc10b4 buggy i was going to get. the rtr nitro hurricane cost barely more than just the chasis of the rc10b4, add $150 for brushless motor system, another $75/$100 for radio, charger, and batteries and I'm broke! but the RTR is $243.
