Default New Battery for ESC/Motor?

when i change my esc and motor, do i also have to change the type of battery? right now i have a 2000 mAh 7.2V NiCd battery pack, and im planning to use a Dynamite Tazer 15T esc with a 19x2T orion method r motor. Do i have to get a battery thats like NiMH, or can i stick with NiCd?

Yes you can stick with you current battery, but i suggest getting something better. It wont last long with that motor.

i was thinking of maybe a Venom 7.2v 3300 mAh NiMH battery. Is this battery good for drifting? and do i have to discharge it everytime i recharge for NiMH battery packs?

Nope, no discharging for NiMH, but it can help. Do NOT discharge completely, though.

As for the venom batteries, they would be OK for drifting, but i'd get something like this instead. The IB cells are good.

If you discharge any rechargable battery below a certain voltage (the exact voltage varies depending on the battery material) you will, at the best shorten it's life and at the worst ruin it completely.
It is especially important not to overdischarge a lipo battery.

so is it safer just to not discharge at all and just charge when my car stops moving? :P
