traxxas top speed claim seem to some time be to high and sometime be to low.
my lhs has these traxxas cliams
car traxxas claim: lhs tested:
t-maxx 2.5 40 mph 35mph
t-maxx 2.5r 40 36mph
t-maxx 3.3 45 43
revo 2.5 40 41
revo 3.3 45 45
e-rustler 35(7 cell) 37
e-stampede 30(7 cell) 36
jato 2.5 55 54
jato 3.3 65 71
4-tec 60 55
4-tec 3.3 70 74
I relize that traxxas rounds the numbers in icriments of 5 so alot of tese are right but jato would sell alot more if it said 70 on the box.

It also comes down to the nitro % used. I'm sure Traxxas uses their 33% fuel. Also they are running their vehicles as lean as possible. I feel that they are not missleading any one.

I don't care for traxxas anymore. After i got three bad cars and i called them up and they said "Oh well" So there are better companies out there than CRAP HOUSE TRAXXAS!!

Traxxas seems to get alot of mixed reveiws, I always hear of people having such bad luck with their vehicles. But I mean you cant just drive the thing, it comes with maintenance. Ive never had a problem with my jato or either of my tmaxx's. I dont think traxxas is too misleading with their speeds, it would sound stupid if they said the tmaxx 3.3 does 43mph, so they round it, and sometimes they round up sometimes they round down, you cant hate them for it.

The thing is you have to run them pretty lean to get those top speeds so are they real world numbers. Most wont run them that lean (if they know what they are doing) and most dont run 33% either because they dont race or because of the cost of 33%. Yeah some will say yeah well they are radar tested and they ran that fast, I'm not saying they didnt. But how many people run there rc engine's that lean, they way they ran them was probably so lean that they will only get maybe a gallon out of it if you ran it that way constantly.
So yeah they got those speeds, but at what cost do want those speeds. Are you willing to get a gallon out of your stock engine's for those speeds.

it primarily all about the tuning... but unless your racing in a tournament, does it really matter? the good thing is that with any traxxas vehicle theres about a billion upgrades. my t-maxx goes about 135 miles per hour right now.. however if the world ever stop spinning, it would be drasticaly dropped to about 50 ish... but hey, who's counting.....
trx 3.3, perf pipe, and motosport intake = faster than a old person in an electric wheelchair
which makes me wonder why some wheelchairs arent nitro....hmmm???
