Aloha gang,,,I'm new here at RCU and was sent here by a fellow R/C'er as he told me I'd get the low down on the Picco .26 for the Traxxas TMAXX. What are you guys who run this engine finding with this engine as far as maintenance, runability, ability to hold a tune and overall likes/dislikes. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can throw my way.

If you're referring to the PiccoMaxx .26, it's a great engine. It is offered with either the T-Maxx or Revo engine mount, the traxxas ez-start or pull-start is a direct bolt-on. It gives you more torque through the entire rpm range than the traxxas 2.5R (haven't compared it to a 3.3 version engine). I found the engine is easy to tune and requires little if any adjustment over the course of a day. Overall, it's a great option.

i8tweety,,,thansk for the reply. That's the engine I'm refering too. What is the average lifespan of the PiccoMaxx .26 and any noticable quirks? I hear about broken carbs when being replaced and bad front bearings. By the way,,,cool avatar,,,I got that one, lol. Between R/C's and building .22 ULTIMATES I dunno which one has more aftermarket parts.

In general, the broken carbs are a result of direct impacts. If you hit something hard enough that the composite carburetor is physically struck by either part of the car flexing or external object, it's earned the right to break. I have about 3 gallons through mine and the front bearing is still fine.
