Default Starter Questions

Okay so I am new to this... Something that I have wanted to do for sometime. I bought a Torando BB off ebay from Redcat Racing. The car was cheap so dont knock it if you dont like it.

Question is this.

What is a good fuel to use? I found something called starter fuel. Is this stuff legit of just a gimick?

Thanks

I've always liked O'donnell or Trinity. I usually use 20% with my cars and they seem to do quite well with little or no wear on the piston/sleeve. There are a lot of good fuels out there though. None will kill your car but they each have thier own particular blends of oils and what-have-ya. what does your LHS carry?

Thanks for the reply...

As far as my LHS I have no clue... Called them on the phone and they were kinda rude... But I could understand having to answer questions all day to new comers could get stressful. I really jumped into this without thinking.... Found the Redcat on ebay they had a good history and took a chance... I know thats not very smart... But now I want to try and get more knowledge before trying to break the engine in. Redcat has been very helpful with my questions and they sent me a 9 page pdf file for breakin the engine that I plan to follow.

Tomorrow I am making the trip to the LHS to purchase some fuel... Was just curious what other people thought about the starter blend that is offered. Or just skip it and go with reg blends...

Also is it true you have to stick to whatever blend/brand you start with?

the brand doesnt matter as much as the nitro %. if you break in with 20%, run with 20%. 20 is a good "middle of the road" percentage. this doesn mean you cant eventualy run 30%, but flip floping every week can mess things up.

yea if i change to a different nitro percent i always set carb back to factory and re-tune for optimum power. can't hurt
