Default Nitro Racing in Iraq! How do I get fuel?

Ok, here's the problem...my chain of command wants me to build a track here at Camp Ramadi, Iraq. All I have is nitro stadium trucks and electric dirt oval cars. So how the heck do I get fuel shipped over to IRAQ? I know there have been troops before me that have played with their nitro vehicles over there. But I'm trying to introduce newbies to the sport of RC! And I feel one of the quickest ways to do that is to show them some Nitro Off Road. The sounds and action will get them. I've already have two soldiers that have purchased nitro stadium trucks and have a handfull that are curious and considering dropping some dough. But if I can't get fuel, then I'm stuck buying all new gear to outfit electric offroad. Don't think the wife is going to like that. So someone please give me some ideas, points of contacts, companies, etc. I NEED NITRO FUEL SHIPPED TO IRAQ THIS MONTH!!!! I'm currently home on R&R and trying to put my Losi and Traxxas back together. The Traxxas is going to pull basher/loaner duty. This will be the truck I'll be letting newbies take a spin to get hooked on the sport. My buddy is diehard AE with his RC10GT and getting my XXXNT ready to school him.

I'd say your best bet is to contact some fuel companies and see what they can do. I should think someone will step up and help you guys out, if only for the good PR it will generate. Not to mention its the right thing to do!

There's a few to get you started. Surely one of them will help you guys out.

While i was deployed to Iraq me and a few of my buddies got together and bought a few cases and shipped it over to Iraq in our hazmat milvan. Good luck on finding a way to get fuel and I hope you do get a group together over there. Stay safe and have fun.

We did the same thing and sent some in HAZMAT containers. You could talk to your S-4 and see if the local venders could purchase it for you from Kuwait. I have heard that you can get it from there. The problem is the cost is much higher. You could check with Tower hobbies and see if they will ship it to Iraq. I have had good luck getting items from TH shipped to Camp Adder. I have an electric just for simple fact it was going to be hard to get....Good luck....

P.S. 4 1/2 months to go.....Its been over a year already.....

Well I'll do the hazmat milvan next time...we are already stationed there. I'm just home on R&R right now. Bahrain, yeah, been there...used to be in the Navy. But back to the topic...I've tried emailing Losi and I've been talking with a guy from RC Driver. Guess I should start emailing all the fuel companies...I've already wrote to O'Donnell but no response. Wonder if my wife can order a case and just ship it through the mail? I don't know with the Hazmat issues....

Hey there,

I'm a postal clerk at an APO. Hazmat is a definite no-no in the USPS/MPS. You'd have to find a different 3rd party carrier to get it to Iraq. UPS won't ship to APO addresses. DHL goes just about everywhere. Most APOs overseas have a 2nd "foreign" address that international carriers can deliver to. I'd talk to the folks at your APO in Iraq.

Yah no place will ship nitro fuel overseas. I was having a big problems getting it here in Kazakhstan where i'm currently stationed. Try to find a place overseas that carries fuel and they can usually ship into another country but the USA has strict hazmat rules. Maybe talk to some of the contractors in iraq and see if they can get it?

I've sent emails out to manufacturers and so far, Horizon Hobbies has wrote me back stating they can ship product to FPO/APO...but no clarification yet on if this includes fuel.

i used to work for DHL, and i know they ship hazardous goods, so you need to find a HS that ships with DHL, then email them and see where you stand.. good luck.

It looks like electric is all they do.

How about petrol?! They're easier than a weedwacker.

I highly recommend the HPI Baja 5B, It's pretty much the best RC out there. $1000

Has anyone considered asking Traxxas? A good American company in the heart old Texas ought to give it a good try.

I jumped on RC Car Action's website and looked at their track directory. The problem is that some of the country's don't have English versions of their websites. I went ahead and sent emails to some hobbyshops in England, Kuwait, Isreal, etc. Hopefully I'll find an European Hobbyshop to ship the fuel to me. I don't know. I'm frustrated and about out of options. I'd really hate to do the "Fuel in a mouthwash bottle" and risk the troubles of getting caught.

Hey RC MONKEY, can you ask around since your in the UK? I'm sure if a local hobbyshop there could ship it, they'd appreciate a ton of business. Because whoever CAN ship to us will be receiving a lot of customers!!!!

I have seen the track thats in Ramadi and it looks like a good track. I have a jato 2.5r but its in really rough shape and can't afford the parts to fix it. If you know someone in the us that will be deploying to Ramadi see if they can put some in there bag. I never had by bags checked on the way over here.

well there is currently two tracks that KBR built, one that I've been waiting on dirt to finish, and another that my parent company is building. I've been referring soldiers to electric and it's a shame. I've emailed about everyone. Think I'll have my buddy in Kuwait ship some with fresh boots or troops returning off R&R. I'm currently looking for an electric. Going to have to drop some serious cash to swap over. ahhhhh.....

oh, if your coming to Ramadi, please due send fuel. I know we could use a couple of gallons for my company. I have a 2.5 Nitro Rustler that is 97% all there. Don't know if Jato and N. Rustler will interchange but bring me some fuel and we'll work something out. If nothing else, I'll break out the tool box....I have parts for cars I haven't owned in 16 years!!!!

Don't ask for Traxxas fuel. It's horrible, and will give you problems. Get it only as a last resort.
BTW, if you send RCCA an email about how you only have nitros, and you and the guys want to be able to run, I'm sure they would team up with Traxxas or some other company, and give you the hookup
