Hi All,
I don't want to start a war here or is too late
These are the engine that I can get locally. I'd rather buy locally for support and parts. It would be really nice to here from ppl with or have used some of these engines
* Navarossi sounds good but a little pricey for me
* Axial .28 Spec 1S Engine Green
* Axial .32 Spec 1S Engine Green
* LRP NITRO ENGINE Z.28R PULLSTART
* O.S. .30 VG(P)-X
Thanking you all in advance[8D]

Those are ALL good engines, however the OS 30VG would be my least favorite out of all of them, I believe you can get a better engine for your money. The Axial .28 is a good, inexpensive engine, slightly more powerful than the K4.6. I haven't heard much about the Axial .32, but it should be a real powerplant. The Associated LRP Z.28R I've heard has tons of power, I think that would be a good choice also.
I haven't personally used any of these engines, I just know what I have read.

LRP Spec 3, aside from maybe the STS 30(assuming you can tune it and get it to run...), is apparently THE engine to have, whether in a Savage or an LST2 or whatever.. It will be my next engine. I now have an Axial 28 BTW, which I absolutely LOVE... VERY user-friendly, and quite powerful...

Why O.S. 30VG Martin? Do you even have any remote experience with this engine or any O.S. or have you even read feedback from others about it?? It doesnt suck, but compared to those listed, its one of the worst performing on that list. (Maybe exept for Axail .28 not sure if it could beat it) and for the price $200+ its an absolute scandal! I mean I know its O.S. but lately they have lost their touch and their prices are through the roof! I would say go with the LRP on this one unless you really mind having some drivetrain trouble. In that case if you dont like twisted dogbones and chewed up diffs I would go Axial .28. Very reasonably priced, user friendly and just a great sport engine. Good luck! Tom.[8D]

I am breaking in my axial 28 and break in has been very smooth. I am doing the heat cycle method. For the price, I couldnt pass it up. feels like it is going to be very easy to tune. Another reason for the axial 28 was that I heard that the LRP has lots of power. Since I just bash and dont race, I like to keep my drivetrain as long as I can without rebuilds. since my xss came with a 28 engine, i thought that another 28 would not put too much stress on the drivetrain.

I'll take the OS anyday over those. I sent my OS for warranty work (my fault) an OS sent me a brand new mill. Mind you my mill was over a year old. lets see other manufactors beat that.

I've read a lot about Axial .28 and also I've noticed lots ppl use it and with good results. Looks like Axial .28 then. I only bash no racing and don't want to spend fixing my diff.
Thanks everyone[8D]

Well asher if you dont mind spending an extra $80 on an extended warranty then go ahead
Cause thats all your doing, theres no way the .30VG is even worth $160 without that[:'(] IMO if you know how to treat an engine right you dont need that..

Well narrow down the options to 2, either Axial 28 or LRP Z.28R Spec 3 Engine with Pull-Starter.[8D]
Now how reliable are these engine and are they easy to tune. Also do they just drop in straight to Savage X without any mods or many minor mods[&:]

Axial 28, Very user friendly engine as Patrick stated, and if u have seen any of his videos, u will see that ther just wheelie machines, with a decent top end, with a great price tag on them, cant beat that!

LRP all the way...it'll stomp a mudhole in the the arse of the Axials or the OS .30, plus it's easy to tune and breakin is painless. But, just like any other engine, seal it before you fire it up (although SH's engines aren't as leak-prone as some others)

I have the LRP z.28r spec 2 for over a year I race every weekend my lrp has a little over 10 gallons through it still starts well idles great and power you'll never need. (but is sure is fun to have) I only have one complaint about this motor there hard to get cause everyone wants one. Cant go wrong with it thats for sure. I work at my local hobby store in the RC department I have sold about 25 of these engines and only one came back with a problem and all that was wrong is that the glow plug was bad. They are easy to tune and love to run under 210 a little hard on dogbones and cups but I think its worth it . I give this motor a 140% for the price

Depending on what you want. Ive tried many diff engines in my savvy. My favorite is the Collari .32. Insane torque and speed and not too pricey. Im not sure if they still sell those ne more but ive owned 3 of them and love them to death. Lrp .28 spec 3, i hear lots of things about, havent owned one yet but will shortly. Picco .28 is another good one. Lots of torque tunability is pretty easy and doesnt beat on your truck as much as a collari would. STS 30 seems to be the new king of the hill. Which again im going to try and will let you know what i think. If a collari .32 is too extreme for you, and you are looking for more of a daily runner engine which is easy on your truck, i would recommend the XTM pro engine. I had one and it wasnt as fast as a collari or a picco, but that engine was a dream. Tuning.......i tuned it once after break in. Always started up w/o problems. Had decent speed and torque and the price is like 140. Cant go wrong w/ xtm. you cant really go wrong w/ most of the motors out on the market. Its just depends on what you are willing to maintain on your truck cuz things will wear faster w/ some of the big powerhouse engines. Hope i helped

Thanks to all who have responded, much appreciated.
I don't race, well maybe a little with my mates. I just like to bash around so I want a very reliable engine something very easy to maintain, easy to tune and spare parts are easy to get. So I'm still tuck between LRP or Axial. I guess at the end of the day it's my money huh

the most brutal engine is the Picco 28 or the Nova 28.... the Collari is decent but not on the same level, the Spec 3 is another awesome mill ... on the dyno the Collari is the lowest in this bunch...
