You bought one of the two piece steel spurs? If so, the bolts backing out is a common problem and not the sellers fault.

IMO Purchase a few stock spurs.
I dont recommend steel for many reasons, your problem included.

If you have the X chassis and trans box then its a quick easy fix, and cost effective. Steel have there issues and cost alot more to replace. You also run the risk of breaking another part of the drive train.
Stick to the stock spur and keep an extra on hand

Wasting your time ,thats user error.
If the holes are stripped ,and the screws are gone ..CA tire glue it as 1 piece.
I have ,and am currently still usin a steel spur ,that came loose, and got trashed.
Glue it ...weld it.....or toss it out and get another.
Leave the seller alone...not his fault.
Sorry,but thats the truth.

I have to agree with burn. Those 2 piece gears are so small that even if you did loctite it in there isnt enough threading to hold the screws properly. The solid steel spur that comes with the x-ss is ok, but save your money and buy the plastic ones and make sure its shimmed properly.

Get a Robinson Racing Steel spur (it's 1 piece) I love mine. I saw that problem and didn't have to see it happen. I thought I had enough lose screws to check for (including the operator) that I counted the two piece out.

Ebay and Paypal will both side with the seller based upon what you have told us. The issue of threadlock won't matter to them. Now, if the gear you got happened to be all chewed up and destroyed, etc and it was auctioned/sold as new, well, then you'd have a case against the seller. It takes that kind of thing (amongst others) to get the attention of Ebay and Paypal.[8D]

I agree, they sent you a new spur and you trashed it. That's how e-bay and pay-pal will see it. As long as the seller sent you exactly what they said they would (and they must have because you left them positive feedback) then why would e-bay or pay-pal do anything??? Even if it's a less than perfect design you don't have a beef with the seller, they sent you what you asked for.
If you ask me, you should be complaining to the manufacturer, if anybody. Or just chalking it up as a life lesson that just because you spend a lot of money on something does not mean that it is necessarly better than something that's less expensive.
