So I broke in my savage x today, and I am having a problem where the wheels spin when I am not applying any throttle. The engine cuts out whenever it gets too slow. It is pretty frusturating for tuning as if I stop it to adjust the needles I have to start it again. Any tips On what I need to adjust? Also can someone provide me the link to the savage tuning video?
Also at my LHS, the man who was running the store to adjust the high speed(black slot screw) and the silver screw. THe problem is he called the silver screw the idle screw. I have the F 4.1 engine. Is he correct?

My X is just starting to hold a slower idle after two gallons. I don't worry much about it...I'd just as soon it keeps running after a crash, I run a pretty high idle.

Are the wheels spinning while you have it off the ground for the first tank during break in?? If so, that's normal. Don't start adjusting anything yet. Once you get the first tank of fuel through while it's just sitting there idling, follow the manuel and run two more tanks through it doing circles at half throttle. That's what I did, and mine is doing great (I'm on the 10th tank since break in).

well you see, it is auctually getting worse. I made the mistake of thinking the idle adjustment screw was auctually the low speed screw. I want to run a lower idle, so do I adjust the needle by turning it clock wise or - anti clockwise? thanks for the help

U can download the manual from HPI and its shows all needles and proper way to turn. I have 7 quarts through my X and have realized a higher idle is needed to keep it running well without it dying. It will take a while but engine will run better after more fuel is through. Mine will pop right off with a quick turn of the roto start now but I used to have to crank it alot.

on the 4.1 , the idle screw is set just behind the carb in a black body ................ the brass one sticking up with a silver screw is top end speed .
you shouldnt adjust the top end till you have ran about 1-1/2 tanks through it
and the idle screw is anticlockwise to turn idle down and clockwise to turn idle up.
ps the one that sticks out the other side of the carb ( a silver screw set in a purple body ) NEVER TOUCH.......................
