it should arrive by mail next week. and i am excited. i am gonna wait until july until i install it.
what parts should i buy before i install this monster in?
i already have steel spur with hardened steel CB. gear ratio is 47/17.
other than that, everything else is stock. I heard that i need an aluminum clutch shoes and 1mm springs, is this correct?
Please shed me some lights guys
thanks

If you don't have X SS diffs then upgrading to them would be wise..
And yes, I have Mugen alu clutch shoes with 1.0 springs.. So far so GREAT...

No. The X SS tranny is only worth a damn for adjusting the 3-speed. Your tranny is fine..
A wheelie-bar , on the other hand, I find to be VERY useful. Tough, functional, and adviseable IMO...

Also not necessary - though lots of people will say that just cuz it comes with the SS kits...
Just replace as or if necessary...
Some people even say the stock are BETTER than HD, cuz HD breaks where stock just bends(and so you can bend it back..)
What pipe do you have? Should defo have a tuned pipe...

You mean the stock black plastic ones??
Then absolutely. I would recommend either the HPI polished pipe, or a Tsais M25.. They're sort of at the budget end of the spectrum but are ideal for an Axial 28....

so what kind of clutch assembly should i get. i am looking at integy alum. clutch assembly that comes with flywheel and spring for $15, and HPI alum pipe cost about $25 shipped. i really dont want to spend more than $50 for both the clutch, pipe and pipe spring.
is this possible? my fiancee is pissed because i bought this engine LOL[&o]

Get the HPI polished pipe, Mugen shoes & springs, and whatever this pipe spring is if you need it.

You can get all of the stuff on ebay.

It was too short. It will fit if you need to use it, but the spring will be so stretched out and deformed though. A longer spring fits much better and doesn't get all over-stretched.

I just got my .28 semi-broke in and it RIPS. Love it. You wont be disappointed.
Also, a pipe was mentioned above. I am just curious. Are the HPI polished tuned pipe and the purple aluminum tune pipe the same? The reason I ask is all I hear people reccomend is the polished. I have the purple aluminum. I am just curious if they are one in the same just different color?

The stock savage 4.1 spring is 3.2x75x0.7mmx56 -- Just get one a bit bigger than that seeing that you are going to wait until July to install it.

The spring on the left is the correct size for the Axial .28-it's the one I'm using. On the right is the stock HPI spring so you can see the length difference.

You won't need any upgrades for an Axial 28 to be fitted in your Savage. It isn't the most torquey powerful crazy motor of that size.

You won't need any upgrades for the axial .28, it performs just a bit better than the stock .28 in the SS kit.
OS 30VG or Axial .32 would required some upgrades.
You can run the axial .28 with what you have, but the metal diffs need to be installed.
After you burn up your first clutch bell using those alum shoes, get the mugen composites, much better and stickier.
You got some biased advice on the alum shoes. You'll just have to see for yourself what works best for you.
Use Robisnon Racing gear, anything else will get eaten.
