I just broke in my Axial .28 and I have a couple of concerns.
First I sealed the engine up with copper sealant just to be safe. Got everything installed and went to test her out. I used the heat cycle method and broke it in. I followed directions to the T. After every run I set it to BDC and all. And my temps are at a constant 235-240 degrees. Here is what I noticed.
During and after the break in I notice a bit of garble in the sound of the engine. It starts no problem and and is producing lots of smoke a full throttle. It is sooo powerful and super fast however , again the engine just dosen't sound smooth like it should be. At least compared to my stock engine. Almost like there is a small bit of water bubbling through(that kind of sound) It has never been near water yet and it was a great day.
Also, yes it does do wheelies an all no problem. However, if I let it sit and idle for a minute or so while checking temps or If I refuel it and I restart it. The power isn't there at the beginning. I know that it probably needs to be warmed up first but even at a warm temp and I restart I just dont have the power at the beginining. After a few min of driving and opening it up a bit then is when the power returns.
I also looked over the engine and it is as dry as could be. Thinking that there may be some kind of air leak.
I just dont know. Here is a couple of videos. I hope that you can hear what I am talking about with the sound of the engine.

I would appreciate any help. I know this problem is not letting it perform up to it's full capabilities.
Thank you.

I can't access the videos at work, but from your description, it could be a little on the rich side.[8D]

I watched the videos and it does sound a little rich. I'd give the LSN and HSN a 1/8th turn leaner. After that, I'd leave it be until it is fully broken in.[8D]

After it is tuned and all, I really cant wait to throw in the 3speed and let er rip then. Also, if I get the turbo button, I will have to tune it again right?

Glad you like it! You'll like it even more with a 3spd and turbo button, but it will wheelie a whole lot more with them-I'm fighting that problem, if you can call it a problem, right now. I have a 19t CB on order, so maybe that will help keep the front wheels down. Yes the engine will need to be retuned with the turbo button....no big deal though. Just put the LSN and HSN back to the factory settings and go from there. Enjoy that Axial...looks like you are having fun with it.

Yeah, I sure am. [8D] Just wish I could find some more places to run it around here. I mean really. There are many savage owners around here in Tokyo. But you just have to drive so far away just to run it. [&o] Really, it is time to move back home in the states.

Teaching English.... Was an interesting experience living there, but a very hectic(LONG days wearing a suit and tie and sweating like a marathon runner in the humidity on mosh-pit-crowded trains...) lifestyle... I liked the people though..

Here is a pic of me and you can see. Also, you should see the reaction on proples faces when they see my head. Oh yeah, that is where my nickname is from. That is a phoenix on my head. Hence, phoenix_stu

Hmm.. Understandable.. I was only there for a few months, but still have contact occasionally with a few of the students...
Funny though, I remember now going for a walk where I lived there once, and seeing an onroad RC car in this park, and remember thinking "holy c.rap!! that thing is fast...."
Anyway, I just watched the vids.. It looked pretty good to me - but sounded maybe a tad rich.. You sort it out yet??

Stu, if you bought your savage over there how much was it? Im guessing pretty expensive considering the price of your copper sealant.

Well, actually I ordered mine from Tower. I didn't know too much about where the LHS were around here at that time. I should of bought it here concidering the shipping charges and the conversion rates. I would of saved at least 100 bucks or so.
To answer you question. The new Savy X 4.6 RTR is out here and it is 54,000yen which is roughly 444.00 dollars U.S.
