DS8911 Servo

Guys
I've been doing my normal running in process on a set of DS8911 25kg servos.
This is the same servo as the 8711 but with the heat sink case.
The interesting thing is that the two servos running side by side the 8711 you don't feel the heat through the plastic case. The aluminium case version really shifts the heat into the case.
Long term it will be interesting to see the long term effect.

A metal case ? Interesting.
For those people who hard-mount their servos rather than using the rubber grommets etc - I wonder whether the heat cycles can contribute enough repeated expansion and contraction to effectively work the screws free over time ? Might be worth a little more periodic maintenace in those installations, just to be sure.

I only have two flights on a F-15 I did with two 8711's (8911's for the Euro folks) on the stabilators. I didn't notice any significant amount of increase load on the flight pack when I recharged it. I pushed it pretty hard on the second flight too. I don't think that the current draw is going to be significantly higher if the load on the servo isn't higher...

It's only going to be high if you are working it hard...as with most Digitals.
The way I see it is these are more aimed to large 3-D aeroplanes or 90 helicopters than jets where the servos do get worked quite as much.
