Good Luck. Most items you buy from Dan Gill "Details 4 Scale" will take work and modification to make due. We have been fighting the Drogue Chute system for my F-100D for months now, lighting system was awful and all the lenses we tossed away and made new ones since they were not scale, Auto Chute systems will not work in both of my Phantoms after sending a couple different ones to me because the sensors were bad and I still cannot get ANY of the Gear Sentry units to work in conjunction with Mini Hobby or Jet Tronics Gear Door Cycler. (He said he would get back to me and make it right and that was months ago). The actual Chute is very nicely crafted.
We found out that AFTER the Drogue Chute box was installed in the lower fuse in my F-100 that the Chute cable that is supposed to be routed up the fuse was NOT sent months ago with the Drogue chute kit. Now the aircraft is finished and we have to figure out a way to install it without tearing up too much stuff. Gary, Ben and I have called Dan numerous times and we were all three told to go to his website and try to figure it out. The guy comes up with great ideas.................. sure wish the products worked as advertised.

Red,
If you look at the attached picture, you will see an area of small lighter panels on the left side that go from under the aircraft, around the side, up to the base of the rudder. These are small panels (fairly rough) that are attached at the front and loose towards the back. The chute cable is stuck under the aft edge of these panels from the chute box to its attachment point at the base of the rudder. When the chute comes out of the box, it pulls the chute cable out from under these panels...

Patrick,
I have called you everytime you have asked me to. You say your going to call me back when you get the Autochute unit ready to program, and that's the last I hear from you. My products DO work and there are many, many of my units out there. Steve Unze has been using one of the Autochute units in his Phantom since TOP GUN. He is very happy with his unit. He has only asked me if it could be made to deploy quicker upon touchdown. I'm sending out a replacement unit to him, reprogrammed with a quicker deploy time as per his request. Other than that, it is working for him without any modifications. I'm sorry you keep having problems, but I can't help you fix them when you don't call me!
The F-100 chute instructions are on the website under the customer service link/tips and instructions.

If there are any others out there having ANY problems, with any product I sell, please do not hesitate to call. 208-233-4721. M-F 9-6 MDT.

Sorry Dan I'm confused. Do I need an eyelet at the rudder/fuse to attach the chute and run it to the release box? If so, how does it release.
Thanks

I'll send what I have for the cable covers tonight. I do not have a BVM F-100 here for the new cable cover parts, so making instruction for them is kind hard. Did I include the cable cover parts with your chute kit? If not, I'll send them right out to you along with the sudo instructions I have available for them. I have to apologize to some about the lack of complete instructions for the chute unit. My computer crashed a long time ago after I had already delivered the F-100 that I had used to make up the chute box instrutions. I found a few of the photos, but never could completely reconstruct the manual for the chute box. What is on the website is all I could salvage after the crash.
Give me a call when the airframe is in front of you and I'll try to explain the cable install the best I can.

Dan,
We dont have the cable covers for the Drogue Chute as well. We found out the hard way and realized that parts were missing. I will call you so we can get this mess straightened out.

Patrick,
I would just like to say that you're right about one thing that I promise to change. My instructions could be better and I have assumed incorrectly that everone will understand what I do have just because I do. It seem simple enough to me, but I guess I've been wrong there! I'm working extra hard to try to correct this problem and I'm really glad you brought it to my attention. Let me know what you are missing and I'll get it right out to you. I'm sending you 2 of the updated Autochute units along with a new installation setup video to help you. There is no reason why you shouldn't be enjoying the benefits from using the unit. It REALLY does work very well. It really does cut the landing workload way down when using a chute. I just need to get it working for YOU.
Give me a call with and address to send the cable cover parts, or just send an e-mail with the addy and I'll get them right out. I'll pre-sand the edges and bevel cut them to make them easier to install and cut down on your painters work. I'll even put the aluminum skins on them for him before I send the parts. He just have to cut a small grooved recess and Aeropoxy them in place.

Dan,
We appreciate you taking care of us so quickly! I am sending you the Gear Sentry Units back and the Autuchute's as well so we can receive new ones. Will sure be nice not having to reach over and pull the chute while landing or asking my Wing Man - Ben Burden to "Pull the cord!"

Another great pointer we talked about last night was that while having this "Autochute" system on these Phantoms will be that we can NOW convert to Spektrum radio using the 10X radio on 9 Channels.
