Default BVM 91 & 96

Can anyone tell me about the BVM 96 DF engine. I have heard that they were not as good or reliable as the original 91. Is this true or were they good engines?

Thanks,

Mike

The BVM 96 was definately a better engine of the two.

Thanks Jetlag.

I too thought it was a good engine.

One of the BVM reps once told me that the .96 was finicky on hot days due to the pipe size. It would overheat quickly if the pilot was the least bit careless.

Thanks Jeffh,

That would possibly explain my uncertainty. I remember someone had one at Fentress several years ago and he was having trouble getting it to run. I actually fly a turbine but have not given up on DF as they are much less expensive. Have never owned a BVM but am considering one.

Thanks

I just got rid of my BVM setup. I had a NIB f-86 and BVM .91R and fan. I traded it for a warbird that I am working on for top gun pro-am I hope. I know the guys a fentress, some of them quite well. I spent some time in Iraq with 2 of them.
