I'm sorry for you Peter [sm=cry_smile.gif]
What did the plane hit, it looked pretty solid.
Is it repairable ? I hope so.

Not being funny but why didn't he abort the take off?
Seems like a unnecessary waste of time and money. The take off roll was not straight right from the beginning and it looks like their was plenty of time to abort to me, especially on grass.

He gave full Throttle on Take off, as soon as it started to move to the left, he tried to correct with Right Rudder, to straighten up, but with No steering, this was impossible.
Yes, aborting the take off would have a great idea, but after trying to correct the steering and with the aircrfat travelling at about 60mph, by the time he shut down the turbine it was already Too late.
It was a 38lb Turbine and the speed looks slower in the vid than it actually was!!
The Turbine survived, The wings were ripped off and some minor damge to the Fuz.

Yep JL F22.
Great lookin plane, and the crash WAS NO fault of JL.
Faulty Steering servo appeared to have stopped working, despite being checked prior to Turbine startup.

Lets just say, Dont call T and ask him how is F22 is!!!
It was last Sunday when it happened, so he has had a week to console his thoughts!!!
Wayne22.
Yes it was the only thing around, It was actually just a plastic chain link fence and a plastic table. We had been at the field since 6.30am, so nobody was around. After a few flights wiyh my F15, we gave the F22 its final check and went for it, but by this time, the usual Sunady fliers had arrived and put up the "safety" fence. Had it not been there, the F22 would have got airborne. It does not look that fast in the Vid, but it was travelling at a fair old speed, so so close to getting airborne!!

]Once again......................"We" can't resist putting a crash video of one of our "toy" model airplanes for the whole world to see on YouTube.....................Geeez! Sorry for your loss, but why publicize it for everyone to see....both modelers AND those who would rather see us not "endangering" the public? What can we learn from this anyway?.........Uh, Don't hit sh&# on takeoff???
Tailwinds,
John

Endangering the public.????????
I cannot see anyone else in the vid.
The reason I posted this was not for sympathy or help. But purely for US modellers to see both sides of our hobby. It also raises the fact do not take anything for granted.
The steering servo used, WAS a NEW Futaba servo. and it is something you would Not expect to fail, however it did.
Th only good thing to come out of this, is the fact that the F22 was NOT airborne when something failed.
We do all we can to minimise th risk to others!!!

Did you notice you notice the quotation marks around endangering? Perhaps not. Anyway, my point is that literally millions of non-modelers out there have yet another example of how unreliable (in their estimation) our models can be. In this particular instance, no one was in jeopardy. But many would say, What if? I did not and did not intend to place the blame for this unfortunate loss on you or your abilities or your equipment. It could happened to any of us.....I just can't see the need to publicize it to the unknowing public for their uneducated scrutiny. Sure, it's just one more video among thousands "out there" but we have to stop promoting the "aw-sh$%" moments in order to protect our sport...............I don't feel the need to see videos of jet models (or any models for that matter) crashing on one of those "outrageous videos" TV shows
Just my $.02,
John
